Just got my LSU Season Tickets today and it came with a LSU NCAA Compliance guide. JS, you will not like it.

You are an LSU athletic reprsentative and the young man is a propspective student-athlete and you may not have any contact with him orLSU risks NCAA sanctions.

WHO IS A PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETE?
A prospective student-athlete is a student who has started classes in the ninth grade.

Actions by LSU staff members or athletic representatives that cause a prospective student-athlete to become a recruited student-athlete for LSU include, but are not limited to the following:
• Providing transportation to the prospective student-athlete to visit LSU.
• Entertaining the prospective student-athlete in any way on campus, except LSU may provide complimentary admission to an athletic event in which our team is competing when the prospective student-athlete visits campus on an official or unofficial visit.
• Initiating or arranging a telephone contact with the prospective student-athlete, family member, or guardian for the purpose of recruitment.
• Visiting a prospective student-athlete, family member or guardian for the purpose of recruitment, or
• Entertaining family members or guardians of a prospect on our campus.

WHO IS A REPRESENTATIVE OF LSU ATHLETIC INTERESTS?
The NCAA recognizes you as a friend, booster, or representative of the athletic department if:
• You have participated or are a member of an agency or organization promoting LSU athletics programs (i.e. TAF, L – Club, Bengal Bells, etc.).
• You have made financial contributions to LSU athletics department or to an athletic booster organization of LSU.
• You have assisted or been requested (by the athletics department staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospects.
• You have assisted or are assisting in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families.
• You have been involved in promoting LSU athletics program.
• You have assisted a student-athlete in finding a job, or employed a student-athlete for a summer job.
• You have ever donated money through being a season ticket-holder.

Once a Booster Always a Booster
According to NCAA rules, once an individual has been identified as a “representative of the institution’s athletics interests” the individual retains that identity indefinitely, regardless of when you were involved with the athletic department. Louisiana State University is responsible for the behavior of all its athletics representatives in relation to NCAA rules and regulations. A violation by an athletics representative may result in severe sanctions against the University (e.g. loss of scholarships, television and post-season bans). REMEMBER, as a representative of athletics interests, you are responsible for making the LSU Compliance Office aware of any infractions of SEC or NCAA rules you know have occurred. Even if a violation was not intentional, the eligibility of a prospective student-athlete or enrolled student-athlete could be jeopardized.
