Exactly. This is more of a concern for me that the receivers because it seemed like we had trouble getting pressure from the front 4. At times yesterday, Scelfo had all day to throw. With Dorsey being doubled and even triple teamed, the other guys up front should be able to beat their blockers in one on one situations. I don't think Tyson Jackson is having as great a year as we were looking for from him, at least to this point.

I think Josh Reed fits into that category too. He wasn't slow by any means, but it was his precision route running that allowed him to create separation and set him apart from other receivers. :thumb:

What do you mean, exactly, by saying he's "earned" the right to start, even if he's clearly less than 100%? Why is it that, just because the guy's in his 5th year, Matt gets the start as long as he's upright and semi-mobile?

Consider this thought: Haven't the other, healthy guys on the team deserve having a QB out there who (a) has demonstrated his ability to lead the offense and produce and (b) is completely healthy? Why should someone like Glen Dorsey or Craig Steltz, two men who have absolutely brought it every game this season and work their tails off to produce for this team, have the blood/sweat/tears they've poured into countless hours of preseason preparation, weight room work, and in-game performance put *at unnecessary risk*?

Why is it so wrong to put the very best players on the field to start at each position? Will Arnold, by your logic, has "earned" the right to start...but he does not, does he? He's in there when he's healthy, he's on the shelf when he's not.

Why treat the QB position differently? This offense is hobbled by not having a #15 who can run and throw, as we've seen so clearly the past two weeks.

Why is this acceptable to you? I'd really, really like to know.

You know guys, it's just possible that Miles and Crowton have an entire RP package that they just haven't wanted to show until it's really really needed. The opposing coaches make a defensive game plan for MF all week and then right in the middle of the game out comes an entirely new package with plays no one has ever seen. Sounds pretty good.......yes? Sounds like a little thing called strategy.

Here's an update on injuries from Miles. Flynn's ankle is better, LaFell rolled an ankle and will play, and Favorite has a finger injury and will play. Looks like the only question mark is Doucet.

i dont like clm's evident loyalty to seniors, either, but against MF was getting killed--the poor play wasnt his fault. but i think more than that it was that the opponent was tulane. clm knew lsu would pull it out easily, so he didnt want to burn MF. you pull MF after some crappy series against tulane and it might negatively affect his confidence for later games. it was smart to leave him in until he had some good series. when he was given protection and the wrs (lafell) caught the ball the results were good.

rp has certainly been impressive, but it would be foolish to think this team doesnt/wont need mf. what will rp do when he gets banged around?

now, next week, pull mf if he isnt effective. especially with mf nursing an ankle, rp has a different skill set that may be necessary to beat a good team.

I agree. It would be a bad thing with a vote of no confidence by the coaches if they were to yank Flynn out in the second half while the offensive line played so poorly in the first half, and drive killing penalties and WR drops.

On the upside, we are still ferocious on defense and we are very deep at most positions, including WR. I can see TT being the man this weekend. Can anyone say Randy Moss?:yelwink2:

If Flynn continues his struggles in the early goings, he will most certainly be pulled for RP who we all know is a stud and fully capable. I can't see Miles leaving Flynn in if he struggles, this is no Tulane we'll be facing.

It's no knock on Matt, it's just that he's not at his best right now. The follow up, then, is why does anyone who cheers for LSU want a QB who is not at his best when we have 2 top 10 teams and Auburn coming up the next three weeks?

In a sport where, supposedly, the best guys get to start, what's the logic behind giving Flynn the lion's share of the playing time when his backup has proven himself to be quite the stud when he does play.

From what I can tell, those still on the Flynn Express say Matt should get most of the snaps "just because". Surely you folks can mount a better, more reasoned defense than that.
