Don't know if posted, if so, delete it, but David Toms was rushed to the hospital today during his round because of a rapid heartbeat... Get well soon David!!
Damn. That's terrible news. DT is young, in shape, and as low key and as mellow a guy as there is on the PGA Tour. Get well soon DT. All of us fellow Tigers are pulling for you.
http://davidtoms.com/ Message: David withdrew from the 84 Lumber tournament today after feeling ill. He is in stable condition and has spoken with his family on several occasions. He has been transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh for further tests and evaluation. The Toms family would like to thank the Hardy family for their kindness and support. The Hardy’s own 84 Lumber and host this wonderful PGA Tour event. More information and updates will be posted when they become available. doesn't have time stamp, so don't no if he was downgraded after this or not.
Posted on the web at 8:30 PM CDST http://ap.whiznews.com/dynamic/stories/G/GLF_84_LUMBER_TOMS?SITE=WHIZ&SECTION=HOME Toms' caddie, Scott Gneiser, told The Associated Press that Toms was airlifted to Pittsburgh because "his heart rate went way up." Adam Young, the director of the David Toms Foundation, said Toms' condition had stabilized, but the hospital subsequently downgraded his condition.
Here's a more current update from ESPN: A hospital administrator initially said Toms was in critical condition but, later in the evening, administrator on duty Dolores Stairs said Toms was in good condition. Adam Young, the director of the David Toms Foundation, said Toms spoke to his family members several times during the evening after undergoing tests. I followed DT in a practice round a few years ago at The International. I was wearing a purple LSU shirt. Since it was a practice round, as soon as he spotted the LSU shirt we started talking about La and then LSU football. We chatted mostly on the tee box while they were waiting to tee off. As I said before there isn't a more down-to-earth, personable guy on the PGA Tour. I'll bet he's already talking to his doctors about being in Tiger Stadium for the Vols game.
He's scheduled to play in the President's Cup next weekend, but I know he'd love to be in Tiger Stadium.
That's why he's staging this whole "rapid heartbeat" thing. He's trying to find a way to wiggle out of playing next weekend so he can catch the game. Priorities, you know...
