1. According to Dandy the guy committed to the Tigers last night.

Trindon Holliday is a 5'7", 170, 4.27, RB/PKR player who reminds people of Shyrone Carey, but Holiday is faster. Holiday had an unbelievable playing career at Northeast high school in Zachary. Holliday selected LSU over Southern Mississippi and Southern University.

    Can any confirm?

EDIT: nevermind here is an article that confirms his commit. Says he will greyshirt and count against 2006 class. 3 commit to Tigers(link)

LSU received another commitment from running back Trindon Holliday (5-6, 165) of Northeast High in Pride. He will be a grayshirt recruit whose signing will count against the 2006 total.
  2. 5'6"?? No wonder he runs a 4.27! Damn that's fast...
  3. Well, with any luck, he can be a KR/PR specialist, like JJ Moses (who's also 5'6") w/ the Texans. That can be a valuable position for field position, and keeping the other guys fresh and healthy.

I agree, at 5'6", it's tough to imagine him playing RB. I guess you never know though. Hope he does well!
  4. I think it's more that Carey got caught up in the numbers with the wealth of talent at both WR and RB since he arrived than it is a size thing JMO. He is not big enough to be a every down back but could do many of the same things Green does plus get some PT at RB. We also have Alley Broussard, Joseph Addai and Justin Vincent which one do you sit?
  5. This morning according to Dandy Don Holliday picked LSU over southern miss!

He is alot faster than Carey and would do well on kick and punt returns.

Might be a good replacement for Green in the future!
  6. No offense, but without 5'6" Shyrone Carey, we would not have beat UGA that first time last season.

    Darren Sproles is only 5'6"...
Former Heisman Trophy runner-up, Troy Davis was only 5'7"...

    Height doesn't mean squat.
  7. I thought Carey proved he could play in the SEC but maybe that's just me. Anybody remember the frst Georgia game? You can't be a feature back with that size (weight wise), but you can still play RB some.
  8. He would be great for returns. Hell the kicking team couldn't find him.
I'm not so sure being short hurts you that much at the RB position. The thing that will hurt the most is the weight and strength. If he could get up to 185lbs of muscle I think he could be effective. You have a low CoG, can get your pads extremely low and you are hard to get a handle one b/c of quickness.

A strong, stocky 5'7" running back with 4.27-4.3 can be very dangerous. I would take that over a 6' 4.5-4.6 running back. Also the short fast ones are hard to see at the Line of scrimmage and can cause the LB's and DE's to pause a split second. With 4.37 speed that is enough time.
  9. I believe that Emmit Smith is also around that height. People always told him that he was too small to do well. Guess they were just a tad off on that one, huh?

Also, bear in mind that he played in the SEC.
  10. Nah, Emmitt's listed at 5'10", 216. He couldn't have been THAT much smaller (or shorter) coming out of H.S., could he?
