1. I just looked at some satellite images of Barry. It appears to be poised off the coast and looks like it's aimed right at Louisiana. Based on those images and what I read it appears to be a mean mother f**ker. Thoughts & prayers to all of those in the storms path. Be safe and seek an appropriate shelter if necessary.

  3. I don't pay any attention to anything Obama says.
  4. I did too but glad CO started s thread on this storm. New Orleans already experiencing some flash flooding. Oddly, rain is beverly localized. Not a drop yet in Port Allen.
  5. Shane. Can you edit the thread title to read Tropical Story Barry? Thanks
I just watched a cool feature on The Weather Channel (TWC) that featured the various types of aircraft that monitor the storms. King of them all are the C-130 hurricane hunters. When I was on active duty they were based out of Biloxi Mississippi. I suspect they still are. They fly 12 hour missions including penetrating the storm wall into and through the eye several times during the mission. I admire their guts. They mentioned Cameron was on the edge of the watch line. I hope the residents are monitoring. I remember Audrey all too well.
  6. TWC just said Barry is only a tropical depression. Yet they have hurricane warnings up. Iconconfused.gif
  7. They just said it is projected to reach hurricane strength in 72 hours.
  8. I've always wanted to see a big storm,.. my uncle was stationed at an Air Force base in Colorado Springs I think, said they had big t-storms there, my sister experienced one visiting New York, said it was amazing,.. ours are little runts comparatively, scares the shit out of my dog though
  9. Probably Peterson AFB. I spent a couple of years there. :And yes we do have severe t-storms. We had one the other afternoon that looked extremely dangerous. Luckily them move very quickly west to east and it didn't cause any significant damage.
  10. Do you have earthquakes? Just imagine that one lasted a whole day. Hurricanes can be deadly with people losing their homes and even their lives. Be careful what you wish for.
