Todays radio says Va. is talking to Tubby. Word is 3 million per yr. Another rumor is 40 mil for 10 years. If all is true, Ky. has to put up or shut up. What kind of paycheck is that? 300k per month? Where does it end? We, the paying public, pay for this. :dis:
oh please. a great coach pays for himself. if not he is out of a job. you are buying into the academician's bs. http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=26809
Sorry...but I think if I made 300k a month and didn't help others (big time) I am not much of a person. Maybe a good athelete or coach, but not much else. Think about it. If I made that kind of money and knew someone like Sourdough man had a child needing help----I just couldn't be that happy unless I was helping them directly. It would set too much on my shoulders. I know he can't help everyone---still I hear of no sacrifices. OK I gave to MS or the cancer society---I just feel strongly that I would help someone I KNEW needed help. Not some organization that may only use 30/40% of my donation.
Tubby has stated twice this past week that he wasn’t interested in the job. Is there a possibility he would leave UK for UVA? It could happen (ie, Nick Saban), but Tubby has turned down the Hawks, 76ers, Bobcats, and South Carolina jobs for the same amount UVA is offering. The offer been presented is $3-3.5 million/year. Tubby was approached by the UVA AD in St. Louis; Tubby reportly thanked him, but wants to fulfill his contract at UK. Alot of noise coming from Virginia on this one, not much substance in Lexington. Trust me when I say this, the Lexington media would be all over this if it had substance. I would say UVA is wishing for a major catch...the catch is not biting on this line.
Can't blame the coach for getting the offer, and who knows what he does with the money. He may give quite a lot of it to charity. We all need to be happy that the players still aren't paid on the college level.
I don't see how Tubby can actually turn down 40 mil over 10 years if it is actually being offered. Unless it is like 1 million a year for the 1st 9 years and 31 mil for the last year (non guaranteed) then it seems like a no brainer unless UK is willin to pony up a similar amount.
