Turnovers on Saturday Night

Just reviewed the Tulane game on DVR and one of the things that stood out even more the second time through was how we basically stripped two balls from Tulane. Heck, even the interception was more of a theft than anything else. This defense seems very good (i.e. well coached) at looking for opportunities to either strip the ball or knock it loose.

Conversely, Florida hasn't turned the ball over much this year. Two interceptions and 3 fumbles lost - about like LSU, actually (3 int, 1 fumble). So it'll be interesting to see if the defense can maintain it's impressive turnover ratio.

Personally, I think Tebow is due for a bad night of fumbles and interceptions. That's my little football fantasy, anyway.

I noticed the strips as well. Sanders was holding on to the ball as he was rolling in mid air with his face to the sky and striped in no look over the head.

    Very impressive.

Haven't we turned the ball over five times in each of our last two meetings with Florida? If I recall correctly, most of them weren't even forced or a result of anything special the defense did. Fortunately we still won two years ago but last year's turnovers cost us a shot at a national title.

My biggest concern is on special teams. Eventually the "punt ugly" formation will cost us...hopefully just a TD...not a game. We also haven't done a great job fielding punts, so hopefully we'll hold onto the ball.

It sure would be nice if Florida would return the favor and turn the ball over fives times this year.

turnovers are always the wildcard that you cant completely prepare for. often, $hit happens and you can lose a few that the opponent had little to do with. this thought is particularly scary for a team with so much on the line.

there is reason to be optimistic though, as our qbs and rbs havent put it on the ground much. last week was a real plus for MF, with all that pressure he could have done far worse. he may need to be able to draw from that experience this weekend.
