In college football, ANYTHING can happen....

I just remember how one of my friends kept saying there was absolutely no way we'd make it to the BCS Championship Game that year and nearly came to blows with me when I wouldn't concede that he was right. Yeah, I was definitely laughing after the SEC Championship Game!

The night of the SEC championship game, I remember staying up till 2am or something like that watching a Hawaii game becuase it would determine if it would be USC or LSU going to the BCS championship game.

I remember being at the Arkansas game in '03 and thinking what a shame it was that we had virtually NO chance at going to the NC game. But I also figured we'd sealed our fate by losing to Florida. This year, the loss was to Tennessee.

Then, I remember watching ND/Syracuse and USC/Oregon State as I was decorating my Christmas tree--again, thinking "what a shame." The other shame that day was hearing Musberger call Leinart "The QB from the OC." I almost dropped a box of Christmas ornaments.

After the SECCG that night, I just had a feeling that we were in. What a feeling!

We play the games for a reason! Don't think for ONE second that the reporters wouldn't LOVE a match-up between USC and LSU--what a story. Can they make it happen? With a little help from Texas, yes.

That day, gut-wrenching though it was, will always be one of the best days of my life.

From cheering on little Walt Reyes against Notre Dame to the SEC Championship Game (and hearing Jordy Hultberg close his pre-game comments on the radio with, "Now let's go win us a championship") all the way through Hawaii, it was a non-stop adrenaline rush. Everything LSU needed, it got...amazingly.

    Wow, what a day.

That is what made the Sugar Bowl so sweet is how many things fell into place.

If you think about it we were the last team to screw USC.

I like reminding them of that because they can say what they want the BCS trophy for 2003 is at LSU.

They beat a sub par Michigan team to declare themselves whatever they are. AP bitch**s.

I hope this time we get to screw USC on the field and take it from them.

I know it probably will not be in the cards but part of the fun is the dream. I will never give up until it is impossible. That is what 2003 taught me.

Great link. I remember being worried about Ole Miss and figuring we would coast through 3-6 Bama.
