I was saying that same thing on the phone with one of my buddies during the game.

I like our young CB's and if PP indeed goes after this season, we have some budding young talent in Mathieu and Claiborne ready to take over and not miss a beat.

I always viewed Corey Webster as one of the best corners in LSU history...until Peterson. But I believe the tandem of Claiborne and Mathieu can be just as good a tandem as Webster/Daniels was.

Mathieu has been everywhere in all 3 games. I think everytime he blitzes he either gets a sack or forces a turnover. He also makes tackles on special teams. I can honestly say, i don't think i have ever seen a true freshman start playing in the first game of the season in nickle, and in relief, make so many plays. He reminds me of Laron Landry. He also coming into this game was 2nd on the team in tackles. We will see where he stands now. Our defensive backs played lights out tonight and it all started with Craig Loston blowing that kid up on the opening kick off. Mo with 2 picks, Pat Pete with 2 and what should have been a punt return for a TD and a long kick return, Mathieu playing lights out. We are blessed right now with a stable of playmakers on defense. Kelvin Sheppard had a great game also.

    Nice little 3* Scout player.

The DB's looked better this game. Tyrann is getting better every game. The kid has a very good chance of playing on Sundays.

    I like it.

One variation on that theme: Mr. "No-see-him".

Do you think he can run the option and throw the ball downfield???

I love how the Cox Sports TV reporter asked Peterson about T Mathieu and Claiborne in the post game interview and he says:

"I done tol ya that. Ya'll didn't listen to me, but I TOL ya back in the Spring. These two guys came in with that swagger, making plays and getting interceptions. I knew. You may not have known, but I seen it!"

Our DB's are in good shape for many seasons to come.........along with our D-Line, O-Line, WR's, RB's, and probably LB's.........now if we could just find an intelligent, game managing, leader-type QB......we'll be reaching for that crystal within the next few seasons.

Sweet Home Alabama is by Lynyrd Skynyrd... just sayin

Mathieu is awesome - he is everywhere!!

I thought JJ looked really focused last night. I wish that GC would have let him throw more. He needs to build his confidence, and last night he was looking fairly comfortable. And the happy feet were not there. He could have easily have been 12 or 13 of 16 if passes were not dropped. Many of his passes were on the money. Still hate the option - it just never looks smooth. All-in-all great night! :geaux:

Just in case anybody was dismayed that Peterson will be leaving early for the NFL . . . we're not going to have a big drop-off.

How about Loston's hit on the opening kickoff?

I think our secondary and DL are fine the next couple years. A little worried about linebackers.
