Keiland is the best RB to come to LSU since Faulk. I would love him to get most of the carries, but how can you keep the ball out of Murphy's or Scott's hands? Having this much talent sucks.
I think Hester will play a lot early because of his experience in picking up the blitz, not turning the ball over, etc. Williams should garner the most carries over the year. Murphy will be eased in and catch the ball in space and run sweeps. Scott, who would be featured on most teams, is the odd man out because he is the same type of runner as Williams, but with less speed and vision. Many people look to Scott as a power runner like Alley was, but he is actually no bigger than Williams. I just don't see where Scott offers us any unique skill set that would get him additional playing time unless Williams is deficient in an area I don't know about, like receiving or pass protection. We do need Scott to stick around though, because injuries are frequent and it doesn't look like we will get another superstar recruit this year.
No . . . it doesn't. We have taken season-ending injuries at tailback more years than we haven't in the last ten years. Depth is essential to getting a team through the rough SEC. Also, fourth-quarter endurance goes to the team that is playing more people. LSU can play four capable SEC-caliber running backs this season.
The level of excitement from those guys just came through in that article. They seem to really be into the team concept, which a player has had to buy into big time at LSU this decade. But when a player truly embraces it, we do see success. And as for NFL success, they need look no further than Joseph Addai, who played running back by committee for his entire career.
Old school...Dalton-James gang! But I digress...I am really looking forward to seeing Richard Murphy in LSU's backfield! I have heard NOTHING but incredible things about him...including that he is a lot like Reggie Bush. Like him or not...I'd take a Reggie Bush style player...especially as under the radar as he is right now. I think a lot of teams are gonna be shocked when he hits the field!
