Leinart's t-shirt is an arrogant statement that says: WE DON'T PLAY BY THE RULES THAT WE AGREED TO - SO EVERYBODY ELSE CAN BITE US BECAUSE WE'RE THE CHAMPS. THAT'S what that t-shirt says to me. Besides, I don't hate the Condoms, just their Biff and Buffy fanset and their OBNOXIOUS band. I have a good friend who is a USC grad in Pasadena who concurs with my above statement about the USC fans as well. PS living on the left coast for 25 years and hearing the "east coast bias" whine from the PAC-10 fans out here gets REALLY old...
I don't hate USC because they split the NC with us.....I hate them because I can't stand whiners. I admit I whine about a few things here and there but USC is a whiner on a whole new level. THEY TURNED A RANDOM BOWL GAME INTO A SPLIT NC BY COMPLAINING TO THE MEDIA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I refuse to get over my hatred for them because every single fan I have ever talked to is a stuck-up, self-righteous little prick. How bout you go to the USC boards and tell them to get over the fact that THEY LOST. Like someone else said, they agreed to play by the same set of rules everyone else did and then they decide not to. NO ONE IS A FREAKIN EXCEPTION. USC is the one that needs to get over it.....
How can you come to our board and tell us to get over it? We are discussing the fact that Matt Leinart, the leader and face guy for USC wore a shirt on National Television that said "FVCK THE BCS." How can anyone approve of this? This is a college athlete who attends one of the finest academic institutions in America and he is allowed to act like trash and throw that garbage into living rooms all over the country and into the face of every literate person (I don't care how few people that is in Alabama)viewing a college football game? It was tasteless and classless and shame on Coach Pete C., USC and ABC for allowing him to do it. What that kid did was trashy and common and student athletes who represent their colleges and universities should be held to a higher standard and take some responsibility for their actions. I like Leinart and I think he is every bit as good as the media wants him to be, but he was out of line on this one. Maybe Al Gore will do an interview with a t-shirt that says "FVCK THE U.S. ELECTORAL PROCESS DESIGNED BY OUR FOREFATHERS." Maybe a shirt for Ricky Williams - "FVCK THE SUBSTANCE ABUSE POLICY." Don't condone trashy behavior by a college athlete because you hate LSU - it is what it is...
Ya'll go ahead and get as upset as you want, hate USC as much as you can. Just don't hold any illusions - it makes you look like you feel threatened by the Trojans. It makes you look like somewhere, deep down, despite all the talk, you're not sure we would have beat them last year. You can try to explain all the ranting and raving by articulating any number of other reasons for it, but at the end of the day, all the bitching is a sign of weakness and insecurity.
Take a look at your avatar you monkey - look into that crystal - you see any insecurity? If Marcus Spears had gone on ABC with a t-shirt that said "FVCK THE AP" I would feel the same exact way...
BB - first of all, its not "your" board, its a board. Second of all, you can kiss it if you think I hate LSU. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, I still live here, and I graduated from LSU. I've been at virtually every game in Tiger Stadium for the last 20 some years. You've got some damn nerve trying to call me out on the way I feel about this University, so take a walk. Lastly, since you apparently can't read, I'm not condoning Leinart's shirt, or anybody at USC's behavior. The point (please try to pay attention) is that I DON"T CARE. Neither should you. Its flat pathetic to get so upset by anything and everything USC does. You can try to justify it all you want by talking about how egregious the behavior is, but you're still not explaining why you care so much in the first place.
OK - Please have the courtesy to read the entire thread before posting. My original post on this discussion was directed to another poster who is an Auburn fan (try to pay attention). I don't care where you grew up and how super duper a Tiger Fan you are, what the kid wore on National Television was inappropriate - bottom line. I'm not calling you out snoop dogg - this is a message board, cowboy. My opinion of the shirt has nothing to do with my opinion of USC's athletic programs. I know that USC is one of the finest schools in the world and that adds to my feelings of disgust in seeing this kid wear a trashy shirt...
You say your opinion of the shirt has nothing to do with the football team, but somehow I don't think you'd be so up in arms if Boise State's quarterback was wearing it.
Up in arms? Let me help you understand how this works... 1. Someone starts a thread with a discussion topic. 2. Others read the thread. 3. Others add their views and opinions on the matter. 4. People exchange viewpoints. Post you email address and I will send you my posts for approval before posting if you like... The shirt was inappropriate, that is my opinon. The fact that it was on the back of the USC QB changes nothing in my mind other than the fact that USC is just one of those schools that I hold in a higher regard - and, therefore to a higher standard in general - than most other schools in America. Had the Boise State QB had it on I would deem it just as inapporpriate, but I will admit that I would have been less surprised that they (Boise State) allowed him to sport it...
