Okay, thanks, I think I understand now. People freely exchange viewpoints - except that if you disagree with BB's viewpoint (like, say for example, you think he's too concerned w/ what's going on at USC) you should just keep your mouth shut.

I'm not saying you CAN'T bitch pal, I'm saying you SHOULDN'T. There's a big difference, so spare me the "Message Board Freedom of Expression" manifesto.

No one can possibly be sure that LSU would have beaten USC last year. We just don't know unless the game is played. By any reasonable standard, USC got the shaft by not getting the opportunity to find out if they could win the national championship. But then, if Oklahoma had been left out of the BCSCG in favor of USC, then they would have been shafted. Likewise, our Tigers would have gotten the shaft if they had been left out of it. By the rules of the BCS that were set up and everyone agreed to, however, USC was legitimately left out. The BCS formulas determined that Oklahoma and LSU were more deserving of competing for the championship UNDER THE RULES. Were the rules stupid? ABSOLUTELY! Are we LSU fans delighted that our team got the opportunity to win the BCS national championship? CERTAINLY! Are USC players and fans entitled to not like the BCS system because of the way things worked out? OF COURSE! I've got nothing against USC fans and, actually, I feel empathy for them. It's not their fault that their team plays in a relatively weak conference. It's not their fault that their conference doesn't play a CCG!

I DO share Leinert's sentiment that the BCS should be screwed. It's a STOOPID system! BUT, IMO, he showed a tremendous lack of class in wearing the shirt with that message on national tv. To me, it wouldn't have been as bad had his shirt said something like: "I hate the BCS." At least, it's not vulgar. I would definitely have a problem if the message was F*UCK LSU. His gripe is not with LSU, but with the system. I never heard him say anything disparaging about LSU. Certainly some of their fans have. i do have a problem with those fans, but, at the same time, I realize that a lot of that is derived from frustration and abhorence of the BCS system - either in general or because it didn't favor their team.

I guaranty you all that if the roles had been reversed last year, virtually every one of you would be disparaging the BCS in some form or fashion. I know I would - I dislike the BCS even though it worked in our favor. Imagine if USC had beaten Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl and LSU whipped up on anyone else in their BCS Bowl. I believe most independent observers, including the talking head idiots on the sports radio and tv shows, would have been contending that LSU would not have beaten Oklahoma. And we would have all been screaming that LSU could handle the Sooners because of its defense, coaching, running game, yada, yada, yada. Because they got to play, we did learn that we would have been right. We also believe that LSU had the team to beat USC. But we can't KNOW at any level that we would have. You just don't know unless the game is played!

I HATE THE BCS (but I sure am glad that it worked in our favor last year! )

What is going on at USC was not my concern as I tuned into the Miami v Florida State game...

Well said SpringTiger. With regard to the things I said before in this thread, I think its worth noting that you don't seem to hold the same knee-jerk animosity toward USC that some other folks on this board do.

    Spring Tiger,

There are many reasons I can not stand A&M fans here are a few:

Texas A&M fans take the attitude that they are greater than everyone else. The funny thing is that there program has sucked hard in recent years. And each year they come back talking more crap and are more aggravating than the previous year.

What puts ATM grads over the top is that this does not stop with football. I work with many ATM grads and most of them have the attitude that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter just because they went to ATM.

In addition, if you did not go to ATM; you are immediately looked down upon. I have never met a more close minded group.

I also work with some Auburn, Bama, Ole Miss, Florida, and Vandy grads. During football season, we all talk a lot of smack and I am sure they think I am as arrogant and cocky as the next guy. But when it comes to work or fun we all have a great time and respect each other. The Aggies on the other hand are so freaking close minded they rarely associate with anyone except there own kind.

When I was a student at LSU we were still playing ATM every year for the opening game. I went to a few of the games at Kyle field. Once when I was on ATM's campus I walked on some patch of grass to fetch a football (not knowing the grass was sacred to Aggies). All of these GI-JO wannabes started hollering at me and physically threatened me because I was on this patch of "sacred grass". I just thought to myself that this idiot needs to learn how to communicate with people. I had no clue that was “sacred grass” that noone could walk on. If the A-hole would have politly asked me to get off the grass, I probably would have. I may have been interested to know why it was so sacred. But, this moron could do nothing but yell and scream like he was a drill seargant.
To this day I want to know how they cut this grass if noone is allowed to walk on it.

I used to think that all the tradition associated with ATM was pretty cool when I was growing up. But as I got older and realized that this was more like a cult and not normal tradition.

Plus I have a hard time respecting a program that has an All Male cheerleading squad. There is something wrong when the crowd goes crazy for a bunch of guys with flat tops bending over and shouting "WHOOP"

On the flip side, my brother-in-law and a good friend of mine went to ATM and they did not get sucked into the cult in College Station. We go out drinking and act civil towards one another (except during football season). So not all Aggies are a pain in the ass, just a majority of them.

Spring Tiger, I have nothing against you - I have not met you. Since you went there for grad school, I assume you did not get caught up in the cult and focused more on academics. Hell, by your title I assume you got your undergrad at LSU.

And that puts you tops in my book!:thumb:

By the way, I enjoy going to y'alls crawfish festival each year.
