Vandy Fans Are Depressing

got bored and clicked on the rival's forum link and found a Vandy message board. warning, the following is depressing. read at your own risk. even more reason to be thankful for what we have at LSU.

or wilt under the pressure? Tiger Stadium is a wonderful place to play. LSU is very good but if we make them work we can make a game of it. Looking ahead I bet Ole Miss will give them quite a game when they play and then we will wonder how we can play OM so close but not people like LSU and USC.

There are really no excuses for us! We have a QB who will be drafted and possibly play in the NFL. He is as good as there is in the SEC. We have one outstanding receiver and several other really good ones. We have a left tackle who will get drafted. We have a great fullback in Tant. W have a small but elusive TB in Doster. These players all have experience and form a nice group to build the offense around.

Defensively I have been extremely disappointed this season. I think we are much weaker at the LB position than we thought (exception: Moses). Up front we have really been hurt by the loss of Antoine Morgan and Chris Booker. Now Freeman has had surgery and is out. That's three DEs. I don't really think Carter is a true DE. Further, we lost Holloway to the OL. This took a lot out of us. Nonetheless players like Clay, McKenzie, Brown, Carter, and Haye are experienced and too good to just get blown off the line. But that's our #1 problem. We can't really stop the run, thus we can't really stop the drive, thus we can't really give our inconsistent offense enough possessions to keep the game close.

I really hope Morgan returns. I really hope Greg Jacobs shows up one of these days, and I really hope we get more overall defensive speed in the immedate future. I'm suspicious that Washington is just not an SEC caliber middle linebacker. I never hear of him (or see him) making a big play. No offense to him, maybe he can play DE! If Goff has a big upside I wish we'd let him have at it now. I think Divens and Horrocks can be really good on the DL. But we've got to have better DEs and LBs.

I hope we have a new defensive scheme that will introduce some confusion Sat. night. Otherwise I bet LSU will only punt once, or at most twice, in the entire game. I really hope we go down there and give it everything we have!!

is our OL. We need to play our best game all year up front, or else it will be 52-7.

Everyone remember Steven Brent losing his spot on the team. We'd have at least two additional wins right now if not for that, and the windfall.

If, as has been reported, the team is pissed off because they're getting no respect, this would seem to be a prime opportunity to put up or shut up.

no offense to the team or the fans who want to believe but... I have heard this all before. "The team is pissed off because they get no respect anywhere from anyone." Well, I respect them, but given the way we have played of late, I can see why most people do not, especially our opponents on the field. Losing a 27 point lead to Rutgers doesn't breed respect. Barely beating Eastern Kentucky doesn't get you respect. "We're 2-5 but with a few breaks should be 4-3" doesn't get you respect. Sorry. I respect these kids for how much they put in because I was also a D1a athlete at Vandy. I respect them for being real student athletes and being good ones at that. But we have not done anything (as a team) noteworthy on the field.

I remember once talking to a player while I was an undergrad and the team was about to play Florida in Gainesville. He said the team was really fired up and thought they could win, as we came so close the last time we played them in the Swamp (in '99 when McGrath ran wild and we came so close to scoring at the end). I bought it. Florida didn't. We lost 70-13 or something. I'm not saying that that this same result will happen, but how many times have we played teams that were good but playing poorly that year and we thought we could win and then play their best game of the year against us. Actually it seems this happens more often than not in my opinion. LSU were national champs last year and have been having trouble a bit this year. But don't expect them to not cream us.

Do I believe we can win? It's possible yes, but the team has only won 5 SEC games since I've been a fan. I don't expect a win, sorry to seem pessimistic, just being realistic. I have not seen us EVER upset a team, only beat teams that were on par or below us. LSU is above us, and I think everyone here knows and accepts that. So, going by my statistics, I don't think we will win. But I will be so happy if we do.

LSU has way to much talent and a much better staff. They'll be ready, we won't, simple as that. I'd love to see us even be competitive, but I just don't see it happening. Not being pessimistic, just realisitc and unfortunately w/ our beloved 'Dores that usually falls to the pessimistic side.

I've always felt bad for Vandy fans. Thats a hell of an academic institution but you have to wonder why they are in the SEC. I'd like to see them start having more success on the field....just not this weekend.

I am a Tiger fan here it is the big BUT

It was easy to like the Tigers when we were thinking we may win now we expect to win even without a good QB , hell we talk all the odds , if Aub Gets beat if Georgia , hell the SECCG will be played it will be a rematch of Tennessee and Auburn . It should have been LSU and Tennessee I know ,that is what Rocky Top's Sports said . Now to my big But , fans get like the gator fans like the Bama fans like the Auburn fans and the tiger fans got right down nasty , so I have done what I do 3 or 4 times a year , I sent the Vandy coaches an e-mail telling them to forefit the game and stay in Nashville . That way their team and their fans will not be hurt as bad ,for The Mighty Tigers of LSU will win this game 63 to 0 . I just wanted to make it a more interesting game for us the tiger fans , after all we get bored if the Tigers win easy .
