    OK, . . . then if the post does not poke a hole in the food then it is a post to contact the lid and push the tray down on top of the food. So it must be a device to compress and form a cube of some soft food, maybe dough or cheese.

    Boiled eggs, I presume. WTF does anyone need square eggs for? :huh:

    and hell if i know! no, i do not own one. i have a lot of strange kitchen gadgets, but when i ran across this one i had a "wtf" moment also!

    this is how it works, etc.

    Looks like it has a sprocket inside it. Then there's the hooks. Maybe a part from a sewing machine?
