Yes exactly. That is what is left of my pinion gear and a bearing or two. The effects of 306,232 miles on a Chevy Z71. I guess it was time. Pretty sure I will always own a Chevy truck.

I was driving my 1956 GMC pickup in the woods at scout camp in 1971 when the truck went THUMP and stopped. I looked under it and there was a hole the size of a grapefruit in the side of the transmission. So I just left it in the woods and went home with friends. The next day while I was in school, my Dad went out there with a friend. He fished out a few broken pieces of metal and managed to get it into second gear and drove it home 50 miles, bone dry, in second gear. We swapped it out a few days later. That friggin' transmission was tough.

    I wish I still had that truck . . .

Just kidding! A tensioner--but of what? Canvas tensioner for a Big Top mainstay?

Then it is a piece off of that old truck you were talking about. Think it went in the bed.

Well, the truck was painted John Deere yellow . . . but no.
