Any idea on what LSU would do if for some reason the stadium isn't finished for the season. I know it will already be a close call for the opener but if something unexpectedly happens, then where will they turn? Any scoop on this subject?:helmet:   LSU!  :tigerhead

North Texas isn't getting a big allotment of tickets. If things weren't set for 9/3, those ticket holders effected would be placed in the lower South End Zone. However, Skip would be pouring concrete himself if that place isn't up to speed by Fan Day.

When I went to the spring scrimmage, a bunch of us were discussing how bad it looks and we all agreed that we can't see how it's gonna be done by opening day. I hope it is, I just can't see it happening as of now.

The thing about construction is that the most time has to be given to the foundation and support... look at hotels.. they may take as much time setting the foundation as they will to put up the whole building itself. I think you will see some big differences soon... if they see that they are getting way behind, expect the contractor to bring in some subcontractors to speed up the work. Being late on a high profile project like this can spell disastor for a construction company.

I'm sure that there are incentives and penalties built into the contract to govern various situations when the contractor is early (Doucet) or late. The contractor absolutely wants to finish in time for the season for financial reasons and also since this job will affect its reputation for future jobs.

Skip and the contractor have stated that they will be ready to pass fire marshall inspection by game one. There will be a lot of paint and other superficial work remaining and the construction lot will still be there, but they will have the press box and club levels ready. There may be some sections in the upper deck that won't have seats ready by then, but they do plan to accomodate the season ticket holders in the lower part of the upper deck.

The substructure is nearing completion and the lighter superstructure will be made in prefabricated sections and lifted into place by 30-ton cranes. That part will go faster than the current construction of the support structure and elevator towers.

I guess with news about football being so slow, this topic will be a weekly one and will help replace the favorite uniforms, favorite "other" team, etc. posts. At least this will remain a mystery most of the summer, especially as long as it looks like it does now and we have these so called experts coming on the board to say there is no way they are not behind schedule.
