Hootie Johnson said his fine and distinguished Augusta National has not promised Stave Spurrier a membership. Hootie used to be a fullback for South Carolina. Holtz had a membership.

"To state or imply that a membership at Augusta National Golf Club would be linked to any job or position is completely false. An invitation to become a member of Augusta National is very special and would never be tied to anything except personal relationships within this club."

heh if holtz had one they'd give spurrier and his wife one as well.

I bet Spurrier's charming personality is what gets him that membership.

Steve is like Holtz just too old to coach . He left the Gators and went pro , now he is back in the SEC ? Welcome back Steve !!!

Hootie probably caught a little flak from some members who read that in the paper. As hard as it is to become a member I would have to think they wouldn't tie it into the SC head coaches job.
