Yesterday some of us were discussing the formation and whether or not the Hogs had used it prior to our game.

Did some research and found the following:
They played the Vols two weeks ago on the 11th.

They also used it the following week against Miss St:
Don't know how many times they used the formation against us, but they had the ball for 59 offensive plays and I suspect they lined up in the formation more than 50% of the time.

I absolutely hate that formation. They use it like Florida uses Tebow, they run 99% of the time but that 1 pass they throw usually goes for a big gain.

Pellini claims he never saw it in game film. WTF?:nope:

I read that Pelini said they trotted out some new formations that hadn't shown up on any of the film. Since I don't follow the Pigs, I assumed the Wildcat was one of them. (Drum roll, please...) I was wrong.

No, man, Pelini never said that he didn't see the Wildcat on film, he said that Arky set up in some formations that he did not see on film before.

Spell the man's name right: PELINI.

PS If I'm wrong and Pelini DID actually say that he didn't see the wildcat formation on film before, then Pelini has some explaining to do.

No that's not what Bo said. He said they used some formations that they hadn't used all year he never mentioned the wildcat formation and that's one that Arky has used all season.

That series of reverse and fake reverse plays would be my guess for the new looks Pellini spoke of. Arkansas has used the wildcat sucessfully before.

The wildcat is kind of gimmicky and requires an exceptional running back to work. But Arkansas has some exceptional blockers, too. They consistantly made key blocks on the corner and got their backs to the sidelines for serious yardage.

We could use their offensive line coach. Steal him, Les.

I'm not even trying to dog Bo. He is a GREAT DC. I was going by what the announcing crew was saying every time they lined up in the unusual formation they called it the wildcat. Don't know what the OC for Arky calls it.

The OC probably calls it wildcat versions #1, #2, #3 .....etc.:hihi: That would go along with what Nutt said before the game in some interview that they try to insert "new" plays every week.

The newscrew calls any unusual formations wildcat as they prob all looked wild to them.
