"Coach Henson and Coach Miles laid everything straight and didn't sugarcoat anything when it came to what their feelings were about me as a player, student and my future at LSU. They are a program that I trust. I did a lot of research for each team. The coaching staff is honest with their players and I actually spoke with a couple of guys that were already there on the roster. Some of them sustained injuries during their career in high school, as well as at LSU and the coaching staff stuck with them, so that meant a lot to me when thinking about LSU and knowing how much I can trust them." Over and over and over again, this is what we are hearing from recruits.
On a side note, Ferrell and Ledford are close. He hopes to get Ledford to come with him to LSU. Ledford should end up at Tennessee. He is projected at inside linebacker as well. Ferrell's signing should effectively end the recruitment of Ledford. Ironically.
Only possible way we take Ledford is if we do not get Loston and the coaches want him at Safety. Still a long shot even if we do not get Loston.
Yep, he has absolutely fallen in love with Fulmer and co. Don't ask me why. LSU was even with UT until his visit this past weekend. I don't think Ledford is that high on our board. Not even sure he would be our 2nd choice after Loston at safety.
some pics from the FlaVarsity.com guy who works for Rivals.com and was there to witness it http://flavarsity.rivals.com/photofeature.asp?SID=957&fid=22669
Very first call Willie made after his announcement was to Cody Ledford. He wants him to come to LSU....badly. Interesting.
From ESPN: Ferrell is a physically imposing inside linebacker with all the physical tools need carry current production to the next level. He possesses a prototypical Division 1 frame for the middle. Is tall, well-built, and lean enough to still pack on 10-15 more pounds and play at the 240-pound range to handle the inside punishment. Overall a flexible athlete for a kid with his bulk. Really good bend and sink out of his stance. Excels at attacking vertically. Fills fast, hard and aggressive. Diagnosing skills need some refinement but when this kid locates the football in front of him he shows great burst and explosion onto ball carriers. Good form tackler. Drives through low and brings his hips with some great pop. Soundly breaks down in space as well. Brings good power and a solid base to the point of attack. Hard to turn when he steps up with full momentum through the gap. Speed is more suited for the short-range, but he flashes good chase speed for his size and possesses above average sideline-to-sideline range. Deceptively fluid in pass coverage. Needs to do a better job getting to his drop quicker but shows above average hips, turns and pattern match skills for a thicker run plugger. More than capable of blanketing his underneath middle zone at the next level. While he shows the ability to slip blocks between tackles, overall his lateral pursuit is not a strong area. Lumbers a bit pursuing off-tackle and does not take sharp angles. Can struggle redirecting and needs to show quicker recovery ability when he out-runs the play. Overall, Ferrell possesses few physical flaws that won't be coached up and polished at the next level. Needs to play with a bit more consistency and put it all together on every snap. Good, tough inside linebacker prospect.
