Do yall think Miles would leave lsu if Michigan offered 4m a year? Salaries keep going up every year. We are paying Petrino 3mil a year.

If we don't win the National Championship therefore the incetives don't go into efect, I wouldn't bet Miles will stay if Michigan offered 4 Mil. There is opportunity for the outdoors anywhere you are making that much money.

I think lack of money may have contributed to Miles nixing Mich. His heart may have been in Mich. but it's hard to take less money just to coach at your alma mater.

I can't imagine going to my wife and saying "Look honey, I took one third less money to do the same job, but it's where I always wanted to be."

I think LSU would put enough money on the table to keep him. UM would have to set a new standard for HC salary and I am not sure they want to go there.

Considering that he did not leverage the current drama with Michigan in to a bigger payday before he won the SECCG, I would say......NO.

If Arky is paying Petrino 3M per year, does LSU have to now increase Mile's salary from 2.8 to 3? Of course if we win the BCS title it will go up to 3.5 mil.

I suppose the year end could be conditional, but I think his contract is stipulated as the 3rd highest paid, as of the day he signs his new contract. More than likely it will remain where it is, if he loses the NCG.

Luckily for him, that won't happen.

I was wondering how it was worded. Is it based on the day he signs, or does it say "the following season"?

That's a great question and I don't have a definitive answer. I have seen his contract posted on another forum but did not really read it in detail. Seems like a fairly important detail though. You have to think that everyone negotiates their contract according to what exists on that day, otherwise at this time of year, your pay structure could change dozens of times. Seems too unstable to me.

But perhaps it goes in effect at year's end or whenever the season ends? In our case that would be Jan. 8th. I suppose he could make much more with Petrino in the SEC now. I suppose someone has the answer, but I am sorry I just don't. I think tickets prices/donations will go up now regardless of where that needle lands now!
