Caleb Joshua Halley, who served as Chief Osceola from 2004-07 and graduated from the university in 2009, was allegedly stabbed last Tuesday by coworker Orlando Thompson at a restaurant where the two worked. The incident occurred after an apparent altercation over the amount of spice to put into some gumbo at Buddy's Seafood Market.

According to police, Thompson pulled out a wooden board while Halley grabbed a small pocket knife. Thompson then walked away and brought back a 15-inch knife. He allegedly swung the knife at Halley, causing three lacerations across his torso.

Halley, 34, died two days later, on Thursday, from the injuries. Thompson, 26, was arrested by Panama City Beach Police and charged with manslaughter.

  3. What a dumb argument...especially when u know that no matter how much spice was put into it that Florida Gumbo was going to taste like shit on rice.
  4. There was one guy down in the Keys that made good Gumbo, a former LSU Football Player, remember him?
  5. There was a restaurant in Jacksonville that had good gumbo. The owner was from Baton Rouge.

  6. How many gumbos have you cooked and asked yourself how much spice do I need to add? LMAO

Roux, trinity, okra, and your protein(s). Maybe a spicy sausage to add during cooking.

Now, I have asked myself how much tabasco or toni's to add to my bowl after the pot is done or when trying to cover up the taste of a junk gumbo from a restaurant.

  7. Are you crazy??? I have to kill you now.
  8. Wait...Do you look for ways to artificially add spice to gumbo too?
  9. Just joking. I do add Tobasco, Tony Chacherie's and crushed garlic to the roux while I'm making it though.
  10. Roux from a jar and this is what you might face.

Put the jar down, you might just save a life.
