You realize you cannot get pressure on the quarterback, you also realize your secondary is liability. Do you continue to rush 4 and hope that it will click, or do you start blitzing like a maniac? I mean sure you expose your secondary, but you can also get in shots on the quarterback and force him to make quicker decisions, maybe even mistakes as the game wears on. So should LSU blitz more, or keep it status quo?
Go man to man in the backfield and blitz like hell. The blitz will pressure the qb and stuff the run in most cases. Won't hurt to try it.
This is where I think big guys like Jalen Collins could be effective. Go man to man, mug the receivers off the line of scrimmage, and send the blitz. I'm not real sure why we didn't try this last week. Murray was picking the zone apart, and maybe we could have forced receivers off their routes, and got some pressure. Hindsight of course, but does anyone think we will see a deviation from what we have seen over the first 5 weeks?
Jamming the receivers off the LOS is something we're not seeing at all. Do whatever you have to, to slow down the receivers.
I agree. It is said he is there to get calls right and people lined up correctly. Based on what I have seen he does that as well as he stuffs a hole.
It depends on the quarterback. A QB like Murray will read the blitz and pick apart the man coverage. Lesser quarterbacks may be intimidated into bad throws. Chavis will take what the quarterback gives. But he must prevent the busted coverages of the last game. I expect we will have a new signaling system in place this week.
