LSU just offered 4* Justin Parker out of South Carolina.

Can play inside or outside LB or even a speed rush DE.

Had Clemson and South Carolina in the lead but now LSU is squarely in the mix. Parker actually had a role in sparking LSU's interest and his film made the difference. He can cover WRs and TEs pretty well too. Seems to be the total package and rated the 8th MLB on Rivals.

He is #8 in this video:

IMO, this is EXACTLY what we need. A big, nasty MLB. A Spikes or McClain type.

I want a fire-breathing dragon in the middle of our defense.

If you look at the guys we've recruited the last couple of years, they're in the 210-220 pound range. For me, that's kinda small.

Bhelm, is there any connection between these offers to Parker and Grissom and the rumors of Houston Bates waffling? Or is LSU losing interest in Bates for some reason?

I know I'm not Bhelm, but my guess is Bates will be de committing soon, opening up a spot, and Parker could be a beast for us, a big nasty Spikes type linebacker

Rumors went way too far regarding Bates via facebook. It was confirmed that he is still a commit and LSU is behind him 100%. Not too sure what to make out of the whole ordeal and don't want to speculate or add any fuel to the fire.

Hmmm....could be the philosophy of taking the best available athlete regardless of depth at a position...like in the NFL draft.

With the SEC"s 28 limit though that must make it harder to load up at one position at the expense of others.

Can't have enough monster defensive players though :).

Kevin Minter is your answer there. This guy will probably be on the outside.

I see Parker as a dude that can play linebacker (outside or inside) on 1st and 2nd down then drop a hand in the dirt on passing downs. Chavis made a living with guys like this at Tennessee

    he sheds blocks really well.

Not bad to see LSU jump into the top 3 as soon as Chavis reached him a few weeks ago but not an ideal situation to go up against 2 local favorites this late in the game.

Top 5 in order is South Carolina, Clemson, LSU, GT, and NC State.

Chavis will see Parker on Thursday for an in-home visit. Hope he persuades him to make an official visit.

South Carolina is still the leader.
