We've had over 9" of rain since since Thursday, with a helluva lot more coming in the next 24 hours. Tons of streets closed, lots of buildings flooded, etc. I imagine I'll be getting calls to rebuild homes and buildings that I rebuilt in 2016. This weather is crazy.

Something has changed south of us. Things just don't drain like they used to. Areas that never flooded when I was younger, now flood routinely. It's sad to see people lose their entire households due to a rain event that years ago was a non-event.

Yep, we are getting Houston's weather right now. Absolutely drenched and getting wetter. Ugh.

On the bright side all this water should extend the crawfish season.

Your second article says this is our future under climate change. This is BS. We are getting no more rain than we used to get. It just has nowhere to go. There is much more concrete around the coast and between me and the coast, so it has nowhere to go. It's as simple as that.
