We've had over 9" of rain since since Thursday, with a helluva lot more coming in the next 24 hours. Tons of streets closed, lots of buildings flooded, etc. I imagine I'll be getting calls to rebuild homes and buildings that I rebuilt in 2016. This weather is crazy. Something has changed south of us. Things just don't drain like they used to. Areas that never flooded when I was younger, now flood routinely. It's sad to see people lose their entire households due to a rain event that years ago was a non-event.
We had a high in the 30s a few todays. 60s today and for the next few days. I got an email from my sister in Houston. 14" the past two days.
Here's a couple of flooding articles from Google News: https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/11/us/houston-weather-saturday-wxc/index.html https://thinkprogress.org/texas-flooding-houston-12-wettest-climate-change-harvey-16cfb69fbbda/
Your second article says this is our future under climate change. This is BS. We are getting no more rain than we used to get. It just has nowhere to go. There is much more concrete around the coast and between me and the coast, so it has nowhere to go. It's as simple as that.
