He thinks it will be SC and Miami in the NC game because "SC does'nt play anyone" and LSU's tough road schedule.

    My favorite:

Q: How did you develop your passion for football?

Carville: In the South you get your passion for football from your mother's milk. I can't remember exactly when the passion kicked in, but it was sometime after I started eating food but before sex.

And he was smart enough to go to the greatest university known to man. The guy's politics suck, and that can't be denied. The guy loves his alma mater though and is proud of it.

Yeah he is a democrat, but you can't mistake his passion for LSU. And that's all that matters. He is entertaining to listen to, even though I don't agree with much of what he says.

Hate his political views. But gotta love his passion for LSU football. Besides what other political head is SI going to interview and capture peoples attention. If your worried that this weill make people think less of southeners or LSU alumni don't worry. We are already there and we were there a long time before JC showed up

    C. Rice's part

There are a couple of answers given by Condoleeza Rice that make her sound like she knows at least a little college football, especially compared to my wife. However, there were a few quotes that left me scratching my head.

First, she said Georgia & USC were her picks for playing in Miami. Then she has USC winning but later gives her college football upset special as Washington State over USC late in the season. She thinks the fact that Washington State playing for a possible berth in the Rose Bowl could give them the edge. USC losing their conference and getting into the national championship game while Washington State goes to the Rose Bowl? I guess that's conceivably possible but it would be the biggest BCS outrage to date. After USC saying they "wanted" to play in the Rose Bowl last year, it would be a pretty crazy situation.

Next, her Heisman pick was Jason White over Leinart because Leinart is a Junior. Does she realize Jason White won it last year as a Junior?

Her pick for coach on the hottest seat was Shula. With the situation he was given, I think he'd be one of the safest guys for a few years. Bama fans have high expectation but I'm hoping at least MOST of them realize the Bear himself would struggle. Well, I guess they wouldn't directly admit to that but they should at least realize it.

Finally, on the subject of the BCS, she says "I am not a fan at all of the BCS. It proved itself last year to be ineffective." Although her primary point to that question dealt with the need for a playoff (which I agree), the BCS did exactly what it was intended to do. It removed the biased opinions of close minded humans and factored only the relevant on the field results. Given her earlier suggestion that USC will be playing for the national championship after losing to Washington State late in the year, it's almost saying that she was fine with Oklahoma in the game last year. They didn't win their conference but obviously played the much tougher schedule throughout the year. This is the part of her answers where I was scratching my head. Does she think LSU should've been left out? I can understand the USC over Oklahoma argument but haven't really heard anyone with half a brain question LSU's place in the game. Especially after the victory to win the freakin national champinoship :geaux: in the freakin Sugar Bowl :tigerhead in the greatest day in the history of the world. :champs: At least that's my opinion.

Then I thought. Well, she's just a girl. Somewhere around 85% of women just don't have the ability to retain sports knowledge, usually because they aren't exposed to nearly the same degree of information as little boys are. The last question dealt with her passion for football and she said how her dad was a high school football coach that claimed he was going to teach her everything he knew about football, even though he had hoped for a boy that would someday be an All-American LB. Either he eventually had a boy and didn't bother with her or she just can't retain that type of knowledge. I guess she's doing alright with the path taken.

Are you kidding? If the Tide goes 7-4 or 8-3 this year Bama fans won't like it but will accept it and feel like Shula might be doing a halfway decent job of rebuilding a broken program. If they go 5-6 and don't even get into a bowl game the color crimson in the Crimson Tide will be the blood of Mike Shula being torn apart by the feeding frenzy of all the tidefan sharks. He would still keep his job but if Bama would go something like 4-7 or 3-8 it wouldn't surprise me to see him get the ax this year.

I looked at the Alabama schedule and they don't play anybody worth a sh!t until Tennessee. I could see the possibility of them being 8-1 by the time they play LSU. Not saying that will happen but if I, a non Alabama fan can see that don't you think there are a lot of tidefans who have looked at their schedule and are delusional enough to think that might really happen. Shula may or may not turn out to be a good coach but he is up against unreal expectations.

Some girls who are daughters of football coaches learn a lot about football (yes, I'm talking about myself).

Let's give Ms. Rice a break. If I had her job, I probably wouldn't have too much time to follow college football, either. Of course, I wouldn't want any job where I couldn't follow football...
