Well all you liberals decrying Republican witch hunts what say you about the indictment of Rick Perry? Alan Derschowitz, David Axelrod and other prominent Democrats are calling it a petty political act without merit.
Making the political criminal is a threat to the body politic worse than any of the congressional investigations that have been condemned as political. Do you have3 the balls to follow Dershowitz and Axelrod?

I don't like Rick Perry. I think he has an IQ of about 85. But this is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. He vetoed funding for a public integrity unit whose leader had absolutely zero integrity or leadership ability. Seems like he made the right call. An indictment? Really? That's unbelievable.

Hey, he coerced a public official for political reasons, which is a crime. He was indicted by a grand jury of fellow Texans on two felony counts of abuse of power. Now he will get a trial to prove himself innocent or fail to. Everything is perfectly legal. Where is the witch hunt? Were Texans supposed to ignore his crimes, like Louisiana ignored Edwin Edwards'? It would only have brought about a federal prosecution . . . like Edwin Edwards. Politicians sometimes abuse their positions and there should be more accountability when they do.

I disagree that he coerced a public official for political reasons. It's not like he cut funding across the board. He cut funding to a program run by her that she had not business running. The program was not worthy of funding with its current leadership in place.

But I think the issue here is that it wasn't his place to make that decision.

C'mon man, you're better than that. He doesn't have to prove a thing. The State has to prove that he's guilty.

Sure it is. If he's got veto power then it very specifically, and explicitly is his place to determine what should be funded and what shouldn't.

You didn't understand what I said. What's at issue is that it's being asserted that it's not his place to decide that the program's leadership isn't fit, not that he doesn't have veto power. It is being said by the state that he vetoed it strictly for political reasons, and not out of what he believes is in the state's best interests, thus the charge of abuse of power.

In public opinion, Perry has to speak and be convincing that he is not guilty of anything.

OJ did not have to prove he was innocent and he was acquitted. What do you think his political future offers?
