This Supreme Court is ridiculous. Voting rights bad, unlimited campaign funding good, obamacare good. Is there any part of government that isn't paid off?

There have been periods where under strong leadership the SCOTUS has fulfilled it role with little aside to politics. Certainly political philosophy has always had influence in how the justices analyzed the cases before them and came to decisions but their decisions were true to their philosophy.
Over the last years the politics of the justices has taken precedence over their philosophy. You have liberal judges and conservative justices flipping arguments to suit their political ideologies. Ever since the Ds created a new term when they "Borked" Robert Bork for the SC we have paid a high price. Without a politically honest judiciary we have no anchor. The last 20-30 years has seen this trend accelerate. We get what we pay for and demanding ideological purity is going to cost us dearly. Read and remember my tag about the "consistency of small minds".

Not even with Bush's best day at Obama's worst.

I will never understand the GOP disdain for Obamacare. A conservative Bush appointee tipped the scales in it's favor. It's a Heritage Foundation Plan. A GOP Governor installed a mirror image of the plan in his state. It's easily the most GOP-option available.

Personally, I'd love to trash it. Let's go single-payer and stop this habit of people filing bankruptcy over medical bills and the overcharging of services. We're already paying more than every other country and getting less. It can't get worse.

Here's my disdain for Obamacare (I'm not an Elephant or an Ass)
    1. It was poorly planned - I think the administration has gone out of its way to do an outstanding job of proving this.
    2. Integrity was thrown under the bus to get it passed. I mean, the Ass people had total control of the house, senate, and Presidency and still had to whore the bill through the process. An early indication of the leadership ability of President Obama.
    3. The actual unintentional negative consequences could end up larger than the theoretical optimistic savings -
    4. The uncertainty of it all has made businesses hesitant to expand and hire.
    5. And your statement "We're already paying more than every other country and getting less" is just wrong today. But it will be accurate after full implementation.

If our health care system is so bad. Why do people in other countries come here for treatment ? A large part of the hospital problem comes from people abusing their "free" healthcare. I've seen people fake injuries at wrecks just to have lawsuit justification. My friends on ambulance services have told me about people that call 911 and lie about being sick or having a heart attack just to get a ride to town on the ambulance. Literally get off the stretcher in the ER and walk out. Guy I work with. If he gets a stomach or headache. He doesn't go to his physician. He goes to ER because its "free".

    1) The biggest error of Obamacare is that very few people know much about it, they're dead set against it, it will cripple the country for decades, the effects will be devastating, but they know nothing about it. Educating the public was the most poorly planned aspect of it. Constant revisions, compromises and nitpicking have really weakened it to less that what it could be, but that's by political design.

    2) Arguing that that integrity was abandoned to get it passed is laughable considering there is no integrity with this Congress or the one before it to begin with. Passing bills require trading favors, signatures, lobbying. etc. unless it's something useless. Otherwise we'd be passing a single-payer system to take care of the citizens of this country and not what we have to take care of the healthcare and insurance industry.

    3) That we have already seen positive effects before it's even in affect tells me it's going to be good for the country, just like Social Security when the population was afraid it would ruin our country, economy, etc. There is nothing bad about every citizen in this country having health insurance. People already get healthcare without paying for it. You and I are the ones that pay for it. Now everyone is going to chip in at least a little.

    4) Any business that has not hired because of Obamacare going into effect next year is a poorly run one. You hire to fill demand for products and services. If anything, Obamacare is going to create more part time jobs, not less. You're still going to need people to work; you're just going to need them to not average more than 30 hours and that's going to result in more people working less individual hours. Businesses that haven't figured that out yet weren't going to be in business for much longer anyway because the owners possess poor business acumen.

    5) We are paying more. It's not an opinion. It's a fact. Of the world's developed nations, we're at the bottom in terms of the best services, technology, access to services, etc. and at the top in terms of cost and people filing bankruptcy. Bury your head in the sand if you like. The truth does not require you to agree with it to be true. People should not financially ruin their future and their families because they were sick with a disease.

    Bravo sir, very nicely done.

@MLUTiger this in my opinion was and is the only thing you really need to know about the bill. There should not have been a need to make any deals or any of that garbage. The dems had the numbers to pass it even though it had 0 votes from the other side of the isle, yet they are making sweetheart deals at the 11th hour with senators from their own party to pass the damn thing. We have 1 last shot to get this thing into the shitcan but I'm not at all optimistic. This bill is terrible and it will hurt a lot more than it will ever help.

The house has already voted to repeal it 40 times. Don't they have something better to do? It's not gonna be repealed. I agree the President and Senate suck ass but this congress is the worst in history, and it ain't gonna get better. This country is so screwed.
