I'd go with either of the two newcomers. Both have had too many ethical lapses. Landry (R) isn't quite as bad as Richmond (D). If it isn't one of those two any of the others would be fine by me. I don't like anyone in the delegation.
Lafayette/Lake Charles district is safe. With the Republicans taking over the state legislature, look for the New Orleans, traditionally Democratic district to get busted up.
Red, have you looked into the redistricting? What do you think will happen? I live in Lake Charles and just don't think it's right that we may have to join with a Shreveport district. That's two totally different worlds.
Redistricting is a nightmare anyway with high politics in action. Losing a district and having to deal with the federal regulations makes it worse. They should let the computer decide this, it is relatively easy in a GIS. But the politicians will not do that. They are trying to gerrymander districts into voting patterns that they like. Shreveport and Lake Charles may have more in common than at first glance . . . proximity to Texas. Both cities and the parishes between them are greatly influenced by adjacent East Texas. They are in the outer media hubs of Houston and Dallas, not Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
