for me it's because it is the closest thing to leagalized war known to man....you have a battle for territory with offensive agression and defensive protection.....you have battle plans that are slow to unfold and tell a story, plus have continuity.....utlimately, there is a victor and a vanquished........where as in basketball, the plays become very fast and redundant and go on and on and on....until you get the whole picture in the last 5 minutes......in baseball......it is all toooo slooooowwwww.....football is the best sport ever created......period.........lsu was way ahead of its time back in the 19th century.......
For me, it's because football is the ultimate team sport. It's the one sport that one man cannot win by himself no matter if he's the greatest athletic freak known to man. Also it does help that baseball is digging it's own grave by the strikes the past 20 years, and that the yankees and redsox have players making more money than some franchises are worth.
Offense - Baseball: One player at a time bats while the rest of his teamates stand around Offense - Football: All 11 players involved in every play. Defense - Baseball: 7 players stand around while the pitcher throws to the catcher Defense - Football: 11 players try to knock the S**T out of another 11 players Baseball is played in perfect weather. If it rains they postpone the game. Football, domes notwithstanding, can be played in conditions ranging from Frozen Tundra to Swampy Mush and everything in between.
Offense-Baseball--Baseball players usually sit on the bench waiting their turn to bat, not standing. Offense-Football--"All 11" players? What about the 2nd string guys standing on the sidelines staring at the cheerleaders? Defense-Baseball--If you think the other 7 are just standing there, you just proved that you never played baseball. Defense -Football--You got this one right on the money. Baseball weather...would YOU like to stand in the box and let a pitcher throw a WET 90 mph fastball towards you? I doubt that you would. Also, have you ever seen a game at Candlestick Park? Football weather...You can't get any more perfect than a domed stadium.
