I think his verbal would definitely seem like a bigger deal if he were a 2015 commit or on more people's radar. This is a very highly ranked QB and a great get if he sticks to his word.
The only weakness that jumps out at me is his long delivery similar to J.J. and Tim Tebow. He goes down with the football before releasing it, which impairs accuracy and can also lead to fumbles. It is a hard habit to break and in live game action many QB's revert back to it. I think he is mobile judging by his video and I see he is listed as a dual threat. Does anyone have any idea how good a runner he is because I saw a few roll-outs, but don't know how many yards he rushed for, etc..
He also lofts the ball on his long throws and his receivers must dawdle to get under it. He can get away with that versus high school cornerbacks, but he'll need to develop a flatter trajectory and hit those men in stride in the SEC.
You are comparing JJ to Tebow? Tebow might not have had the skills to transition to the next level but he was a great college quarterback. JJ was, uh, well, he was JJ
I'm comparing JJ's delivery to Tebow. They both had a wind up delivery. I knew Tebow wouldn't make it in the pro's because he was too inaccurate and his delivery was too slow for pro ball. I told this to anyone who would listen. Tebow had QB guru's try to alter his delivery after he left Florida, but he kept reverting back to his old style in the heat of the game.
