For the start of the Largemouth Bass fishing season? I've tried to go out a few times to check out water temps, and see if their beginning to move... unfortunately the water is still a bit cold, but have caught a few. I figure like most seasons, it'll be late Feb. early Mar. before the water temps rise enough to make them active enough to start taking lures, right now slow fishing wacky rigged senkos deep barely produces many bites.
I'm hoping we're seeing the last bit of the cold and we start seeing some warming trends. Of course i'm in Bossier City so our waters will take longer to hit that target temp than what Southern LA is probably seeing now or at least in the next few weeks... any other Bass fishermen getting anxious for the season?

It's definitely on my mind. First chance I get I'm gonna rebuild the lower unit and trim motor on my Evinrude 150. Hoping I just need to replace the thrust washer on the prop shaft and clean the brushes on the trim motor. Fingers crossed.
I plan on using boat to get me to a couple of turkey hunting spots before sunrise. Turkey hunt then fish afterwards. Multi tasking

Sounds like a great time. I'm without a boat so I do all of my fishing from the bank. But I enjoy top water Bass fishing the most unfortunately it'll probably be another month before that starts producing... but for big lunker bass it can't be beat. Any bass fishermen in the Shreveport/Bossier area?

The only bass fishing I do is in my front yard. When I need fish for a meal, I walk out the front door and it only takes a few minutes - just depends on how many people are coming for dinner. Beetle Spin or a plastic worm, just depends on my mood, but they are both equally effective. Nobody but me ever puts a hook in that water, so they go nuts when they see a lure.

As for the rest of my fishing, strictly salt water.

I don't fish for bass but I've been catching some white perch. Brought two boys who don't have a dad in the picture. We set some yo-yo's and caught 30 but could've caught 50+. I picked up the yo-yo's at 9:30 and told them that was enough. They had fun. I cleaned some for their mom's to fry for them- and they did. They live in a low income housing complex and are neighbors. I didn't know that when I asked them if they wanted to go on a fishing trip. Worked out well. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Oh I have plenty flaws. I guess they kinda balance out, sorta. ;)

Just got off the phone with a HS coach who was telling me about a kid he took to kill a hog. Kid is being raised by his grandmaw. There are still a lot of good people out there. Those stories just don't make the front page.

How are you from LA and not know what a yo-yo is? Your man isn't holding up his part on your outdoor education.
