Since the Best Burger thread is still around after all this time it needs a favorite condiment thread.

*Ketchup-There is no ketchup other than Heinz. All others are garbage.

*Mayonnaise-I prefer Hellman's or Blue Plate. Heinz makes a good mayo but I have never
seen it in a store. Just in those little packets at fast food places and stores

*Mustard-I usually buy French's but some of the others are OK. Gulden makes a pretty
good brown mustard and you can never go wrong with Grey Poupon

*Bar-B-Q Sauce-I have used the regular Kraft's for years but lately I've been using Sweet
    Baby Ray's.

*Steak Sauce-I like Heinz 57 but A-1 is OK. Heinz 57 is more versatile for the creation of
    other sauces.

*Worcestershire Sauce-Lea & Perrins is the old standby but most brands are petty decent

*Zatarain's Remoulade Sauce is a great alternative for mayo and mustard on sandwiches
    and po boys.

*Salad Dressing-Do they still make Marie's? I haven't seen it in stores for a long time.
Most of the cheap ones a crap unless you just want some cheap Italian
    dressing for a marinade.

Nope. Hunts is superior, it has no high fructose corn syrup. Heintz makes hundreds of food products. Hunts makes only tomato-based products like Ketchup, tomato paste, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce and such. They have always been a tomato company. Heintz ketchup has that traditional vinegary spicy ketchup flavor but Hunts tastes more like fresh tomatoes.

    Hellman's

Got to have three mustards. French's yellow mustard for dogs and burgers, Zatarains Creole mustard for po-boys and ham & cheese, and some Poupon or similar pungent euro-mustard for seasoning.

Usually Cattleman's by the gallon because they don't put imitation hickory flavor in sauce intended for commercial BBQ. Practically all store sauces have imitation smoke which is stupid if people are using it to BBQ! I always read the label and if artificial smoke is on it, I pass. I also like the chipotle-flavored peppery Texas sauces better than the too-sweet Kansas City and Memphis sauces. I dislike the Carolina-style vinegary sauces except on a pork sandwich maybe. Never to grill with.

57, but mostly to flavor burgers and beans. I never use sauce too much on a steak, although I do like a few mushrooms sautéed in butter atop the steak.

French's has always won the taste test for me.

    Agreed. And for salad dressing.

Home made huckleberry vinaigrette when you can find it. Low-cal and very tasty. But bleu cheese when I feel decadent.

Strange you do not put Louisiana hot sauce on the condiments list. I use Tabasco on the table, but Trappeys or Crystal in the kitchen. I usually have a bottle or three of odd Louisiana hot sauces in the fridge . . . Panola, Cajun Chef, or Bulliards.

I usually also have bottle of Caribbean hot sauce, I keep changing brands; and a bottle of Tex-Mex hot sauce, I keep changing brands of that, too.

I do not like those trendy California hot sauces with fruitiness in them. Take your mangos and . . .

Heinz now has a non fructose ketchup and I think taste better than the original.

Always have Cajun Power Garlic Sauce handy.

Really like Gueldon spicy mustard and now have a hearty version that is unique in a good way. There is a place for both in my fridge.

If you're putting steak sauce on your steak then you're not cooking the steak properly.

Or the meat is not as good as you expect. Sometimes you get a steak that is just not very tasty. I hit such a steak with a dash of Worcestershire.

You have more time on your hands than me if you looked up all those old threads.

Hunts has good tomato products but I don't want ketchup to taste like tomatoes. I want ketchup to taste like ketchup.

Pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon?

I forgot about the hot sauces before I posted. I like Tobasco for gumbo, Louisiana Hot Sauce for jambalaya and etoufe and I use Crystal to make hot wings hotter. Not a hot sauce but I keep a bottle of Pick-A-Peppa Sauce around. Its good for all sorts of things.
