    Anybody watching?

The first two episodes have aired and I've seen them both. I've got to say I'm pretty damned impressed. Not only is the story compelling, the acting -- from the entire cast, but, of course, particularly Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey -- is top notch and the production managed to capture Louisiana, warts and all, without pandering or resorting to cliches.

Not to mention that you get to see LOTS of Alexandra Daddario (playing Harrelson's mistress) and she is smoking, I mean just unreasonably, hot. Haven't see it or don't know her? Google her name and True Detective, but be warned you'll find some NSFW photos (like that would stop some of the degenerates here).

It's different - in a refreshing way. We'll see how it turns out.

Verdicts still out for me. Cautiously optimistic.

I like it, don't really know how it's gonna turn out being the first 3 episodes are mainly flashbacks.

My wife liked the initial three episodes and said she would watch them again with me. There are too many shows to keep up with these days but I'm planning on giving True Detective a chance.

So just learned that True Detective is a spin off a pulp mag/comic like tales from the crypt, so next season will be an entirely different story and acting crew.

I heard that a while back but the creators weren't sure if there would be a 2nd season. Any new info on that?

Yeah. Every season will be different, with some possible subtle likes. HBO is trying to decide if the second season will be shot in Louisiana. It won't be set here again, but productions like the free money.

Also, this is a minor gripe, but some of the continuity on this show is bad. In some scenes Matthew Mcconaughey is super thin, and other secenes he is more normal. The shoot schedule for True Detective was around Dallas Buyer's Club. He got down to like 110 for Dallas Buyer's Club. It really shows in some scenes, and not in others. Shit like that bugs me. You mean to tell me this dude gained 40 pounds on the car ride from the burned church to the tent revival?

Lots of clues and symbolism in this show. Outstanding job being done by both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaghey. This could very well be the best performance by both. It's already being mentioned in the same breath as The Wire in terms of where it falls in terms of quality. There are only 8 episodes and not the standard 13.

Anyone notice how the interviews with Cohle are about the murder and the interviews with Hart are about Cohle?
