High-profile recruits will check out LSU-Wisconsin
    • LSU will kick off the 2014 campaign on Saturday against Wisconsin and it’s turning out to be a nice little gathering of recruits scheduled to be on hand to watch the Tigers in action.

5-star CB Kendall Sheffield will be in the building when LSU plays Wisconsin on Saturday

*** Five-star cornerback Kendall Sheffield lives only a hop, skip and a jump from Reliant Stadium and the Houston-native plans to attend the Tigers’ opener. Sheffield visited LSU during the summer, and while the Tigers are in the mix for the nation’s No. 3 cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite, there is still some work to do with Texas A&M and Alabama believed to be in his top group.

*** Five-star offensive tackle Maea Teuhema will make the drive to Houston to see his older brother Sione Teuhema in action, provided the true freshman defensive end gets on the field for the Tigers. Maea’s commitment to the Tigers is rock solid and he will get a first-hand look at Jeff Grimes’ troops in action in their first game under the new offensive line coach.

*** LSU currently has three running backs committed in Derrius Guice, Nick Brossette and David Ducre, and all three are slated to attend. Guice and Ducre are solid with their pledges, but there has been some recent talk that Brossette is looking around with Texas, Auburn, Notre Dame, UCLA and Florida State under consideration. Brossette’s recruitment is one that will play out all the way to signing day and this is one we could see going either way.

*** Another Lone Star State product who is committed to the Tigers plans to be in Reliant Stadium in tight end/offensive tackle Hanner Shipley. The three-star tight end, who is playing tackle his senior year, signed his financial aid agreement with the Tigers earlier this month, giving the staff unlimited contact with him, amongst other benefits.

*** A number of 2016 prospects are also set to make the trip with several headliners including the nation’s No. 2 cornerback Kristian Fulton. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery but should be back in action within the next couple of weeks. Florida, Texas A&M, LSU and others have offered, but the Tigers are the team to beat.

*** 6-foot-2, 310-pound defensive tackle Edwin Alexander, who was once committed to the Tigers, is expected to be at the game as well. Offers are starting to come from all angles for the nation’s No. 2 tackle, who is also the No. 8 prospect overall in the 247Sports Composite, but LSU is in good shape to regain his pledge.

*** Calvary Baptist quarterback Shea Patterson is set to watch the Tigers and his older brother, Sean Patterson, who will be working his first game since being named am Offensive Quality Control Assistant. LSU already has one quarterback committed in the 2016 class in Feleipe Franks, but would love nothing more than to add Patterson to give them two of the nation’s best signal callers.

*** Another Texas product ranked No. 2 at his position is Deontay Anderson and he said he will be in attendance. LSU has really started to pick up some momentum with Anderson and the Tigers are considered the team to beat by some despite Texas A&M having a commanding lead on his 247Sports Crystal Ball with Alabama having the only other picks.

*** Not only is the No. 2 safety planning on watching the Tigers play, but the nation’s No. 3 safety Eric Monroe says he will also be there. The Tigers emerged as a major player for Monroe when he visited for the June camp, and many feel they are the one holding the upper hand.

*** One of Louisiana’s top offensive linemen for 2016 is Barbe’s offensive guard Collin Fountain and the 6-foot-3, 325-pounder will make the short drive over from Lake Charles. LSU hasn’t offered Fountain yet, but expect his name to shoot up several boards over the coming months as he is a pure road-grader.

*** 2017 offensive tackle Adrian Ealy was offered by LSU during his freshman year and the U-High standout was set to be in the building. However, a driving class on Saturday will prevent him from making the trip. Florida State, Texas and a few others have also offered, but they all have ground to make up as the Tigers are the team to beat.

*** Dylan Moses will be in the building and this is another indication of how strong the 2017 athlete’s pledge is to LSU. Anytime he gets a chance to support the Tigers he takes full advantage of it.
