I went to the "Get Motivated" seminar (didn't work, BTW ) at the Centroplex with Zig Ziglar et al. Well, their surprise speaker after lunch was none other than Nick himself! Of course, he got the most applause all day when he walked on and off the stage. He discussed the same stuff most of you have heard already about not choosing team captains, focusing on the game at hand and not a championship, etc., etc. But one comment he made that I though was interesting went something like this (disclaimer): "The only thing I was dissapointed in, if you can call it dissapointment, was when our players would lie on the field injured. Of course, if you're hurt that badly, then stay there. But you shouldn't show your weaknesses to your opponent." Anyone else there who can verify/clarify the comments?
Saw Him It was a cool suprise. Yeah, I heard that as well but don't remember our guys laying around much at all. He looked kinda funny with that flashy music in the background and the fireworks going off as conservatively as he presents himself. What I got out of his speech is that his players committed to the his processes some of which had nothing to do with football in the bigger picture. I remember Skip Bertman saying something similar to that in winning his NC's
Nick telling the same motivational story in the first person that someone else had already told earlier in the day was pretty humorous.
You mean the "frying pan" story? Yeah, kinda lost it's punch the second time around. Guess they didn't compare notes ahead of time.
