I am not worried about it getting done, but is it just me or is his contract/salary being upgraded pretty much a non-news issue? I mean we hear hardly anything about it. Not from Coach Brady, not from Skip, etc etc. With the exception of the typical "a deal is in the works" comments.

Another thought is that when his contract is finally done, how close will his salary be to that of Les Miles? If Brady is going to be given a contract that is un the upper third of pay levels int he SEC, then he could very well be close to Miles' salary.

I love LSU football AND basketball but to think that the basketball coach's salary could be on par with the football coach's salary is a bit hard to believe!

There was a report in the paper about a week ago which stated they are very close and that brady's agent was now going to come in for negotiations, but haven't heard anything since.

Heard that report as well. Which is really nothing new because similar reports have been made almost every week since the season ended.

In a way no news, is good news. That probably does mean that both sides in the negotiations are happy with the way things are going. It means, Brady's not actively "shopping" and LSU is actively working on it. As time drags on, it also becomes less likely for both parties to walk away--at this stage given that there's no alternative candidates to go after, and Brady's hard pressed to say now and take another deal.

I think, however, what's interesting is what they may really be talking about. To me, I'd love to to be a fly on the wall to see what are the "nuances" on this contract that will really help the basketball program. Clearly, a lot of the nuances involved upgrading the program's facilities and helping LSU's ability to recruit. I think upgrading the kids' locker room is priority one. When you see what UT's men's lockerrooms look like, it's no wonder that recruits flock to UT when their lockerrooms look like pro locker rooms. I think getting the administration committed to build nicer practice facilities is a tougher one perhaps. But, Skip has remarked that there are certain of these kinds of things that LSU "can't" do--what are those things? I think that the best investment for the program are those that directly impact recruiting--the best way to ensure consistent competitive teams is competitive players, and I'd hate to see us now in the spotlight after the FF, in the running for really good players, only to still lose them at the end. I think the only reason that Alabama is even there now as a household hoops name in the southeast, is the amount of $ that they've invested on players' amenitites and facilities in the last year or so. Big difference between LSU and 'Bama in that regard right now.

I think that the $s will work themselves out, as Brady just wants to be paid in the top quarter-third of the SEC, which means as long as he's in Pearl/Gottfried range, he's happy (this is still less than Miles--so, I don't think you see the basketball coach being paid more than football).

I think when the contract's announced, it will be fair to both sides, which will be good for Brady long term and endear him and his family to the community, at the same time, there will be incentives to keep him motivated to keep winning. The interesting thing to me will be the "other add-ons"--and the statement it sends to the assistant coaches, players and the college basketball community that LSU is a real national basketball player.

:geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. PACK THE PMAC!

Correct me if I am wrong but Brady has struck-out this recruiting season losing all the big time in state talent. LSU should just give TT a raise, the real reason we beat Duke.

I read a report somewhere recently that the practice facilties are already in the developement stage, so I don't think that is a hang up. The locker rooms are an issue and Skip wants Brady to help raise the money to fund them.
