What about the defensive line this coming season? Is Claude Wroten going to be able to successfully replace Chad Lavalais. I mean Lavalais was awesome last year. He totally dominated, especially in the first half.

What about Melvin Oliver, is he going to be able to spell Marquise Hill? What about the backups? We have Kirtson Pittman and Brian West as backup Defensive Ends, but what about Alonzo Manuel, Ryan Willis, and Jarrod Carter? Where do they fit in? Didn’t they work Kenny Hollis some at Defensive End this spring? What about Tyson Jackson, Charles Alexander, Tim Washington, and Tremaine Johnson? Who gets redshirted? Is Marcus Spears going to dominate this season or what? :hihi:

And how about the backup tackles? Who is backing up Kyle Williams and Claude Wroten this season? They moved Brandon Washington to offense. Who are the backups? Carnell Stewart and Sean Merrill? Are Glenn Dorsey and Marlon Favorite going to be able to redshirt, or will they have to play?

This is my depth chart (RS = Redshirt):

RE Pittman SO,West SO, Merrill FR, Alexander RS, TJohnson RS
RT Wroten JR, Oliver JR,Collins SO,Favorite RS
LT Williams JR, Stewart FR, Carter FR, Dorsey RS
LE Spears SR, Manuel SO,TWashington FR, Willis SO

Everyone will be able to be redshirted. That's how much depth we have. Unless someone just blows up and is too good to hold back, I don't see any true freshman playing this year.

Pittman will be awesome as a replacement for Hill. Wroten will dominate the middle much like Lavalais did. Spears is probably the best defensive end in the country right now.

This d-line will be just as good as last year.

Nick has said that Oliver may play at tackle and at end. We may see a lot of combinations in different circumstances. This should be a very good line.

I think we will see Oliver at RE on first and second for a large portion of the games and then Pittman on third. Then when Oliver moves inside to spell Wroten or Willimas pittman gets the majority of the snaps at RE. It will be interesting to see what other youngs step up, we could have an 8 man rotation, which would be totally awesome, especially in that first game vs OSU it will be so hot.

What about Carnell Stewart and Sean Merrill? Both those guys were top recruits of the 2002 class. If they are going to use Oliver to spell Wroten and Williams, does that mean those guys aren't up to par yet? Or was the decision to work Oliver at tackle some because Brandon Washington has been moved to offense?

And what about Alonzo Manuel, this guy was a 4 star player out of high school, I understand he was initially a linebacker but now has been moved to DE, where he played in high school? Anyone have an idea how this guy is coming along? I'd think with this guy's speed he should be able to contribute somewhat this year.
