The default setting for Roku in the bit rate override control is automatic. If I leave it on auto it gobbles up my data allotment like a hungry hog. So I have been changing it to manual and setting it at 2500 mbps unless I'm watching sports or a movie with a lot of special effects.

That worked great for months until last week. Now when I lower the bandwidth it flips back to automatic as soon as I exit the settings menu. That allows Roku to use up to 12000 mbps. Cox charges for goin over a terabyte a month are outrageous.

Anybody know why it does this? I called Roku tech support and after a half hour on hold talked to some guy un India and couldn't understand a word he said.

Yes. They charged me an extra $30.

I reset the roku to factory settings and reinstalled the apps but it still doesn't stay at where I set it. Others people with roku never have this problem.

My TV is a Fire TV. I bought it not knowing anything about fire or roku ar any other streaming stick. The reason I got the roku was because once I signed up I YouTube TV I found out YouTube doesn't work with fire because the billionaires who own Amazon and Google/YouTube dont want it to.

I have started watchind Netflix and ESPN through the apps on fire but I like YouTube TV because I can record unlimited tv without having to own or rent a set top box. Apparently fire doesn't burn through data the way that roku does.

There is no browser app that I could find that is availability and roku. Fire has Firefox browser and thats the only was to access YouTube. But YouTube TV doesn't work on a browser. On roku I have both the YouTube TV and the You apps.
