If Libya turns out badly, Obama will have to pay the price that Bush has paid for rashly taking unwise action that went badly for the country. If Libya turns out great, he will be lauded for timely and prudent action that elevates America.

Time will tell. But it is clear that Obama is no Jimmy Carter. His resolve is no less than Bush's and he is considerably more shrewd.

What do you mean if? We bombed them out of nowhere with his stated purpose that the jackass had to go, wasted millions, lost an aircraft and then left like we never touched them....

It already is a failure on the American part. We started yet another thing that is left unfinished....

Who left? Have you been paying attention? We've started Predator drone strikes against Qadaffi headquarters and residences. We killed his son and three grandchildren on May 1st with stealth bombing strikes.

    This ain't over yet.

When I said we left, I was getting to the fact that we handed over the lead after a few weeks, I should have been more clear. If our goal was to get him, OUR GOAL, then why did we take a back seat? We are just wasting money.....

AMERICAN LAW AND POLICY ON ASSASSINATIONS OF FOREIGN LEADERS: THE PRACTICALITY OF MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO

Bush got hammered in the press for the strike to kill saddam the day the Iraq war started. I remember this order being used to slam Bush for targeting saddam. Why can obama kill gaffy's son and try and kill him and no uproar from the media? I don't care if we nuke gaffy's azz but still it isn't right for Barry to get a pass on trying to kill the president of libya and george get slammed for trying to kill the president of Iraq

We haven't taken a back seat. We forced the French and the Brits to stand up and take responsibility because they were the ones pushing this action. But we haven't really surrendered prime responsibility. But the War Powers act expires on Friday. We needed to be a lot more covert by then.

I don't remember this. The foreign press hammers us every time we use military power. But the US press largely accepted the Shock and Awe effort. It was the invasion and occupation that earned the negative press.

No, our white house clearly stated our goals.... of which was to take him out. If that was our goal, why waste money on letting other people try to figure it out when we obviously have the means?
