I find conservatives mainly annoying, who are more concerned about what goes on in the bedroom than anything else. But one thing they USED to bring to the party was some fiscal sanity. Sadly, with the advent of the new conservative sect, the Neo-confederates, even that is out the window, exchanged for programs that transfer massive amounts of wealth from the middle class to the ultra-wealthy.
Now comes prescription drug coverage - wow - let's take cash from middle class workers and give it to the wealthiest demographic in the country! Whoopee! Tagging right behind is the ridiculous estate tax elimination which, per Neo Confederate Policy, will RAISE taxes on moderate estates.
There is no question that US consumer should not foot the entire prescription drug bill as they do today, subsidizing Europe and Canada.
Do some more group purchasing; pressure these drug companies. But the answer is NOT another wealth transfer to those who don't need it. Means test a program for the poor and stop it there.

It makes you want to work hard to become rich and get all the benefits. Wow, that's a great idea! Work hard, become rich....Nahhhh. Let's just screw off and let the government take care of us and when they won't or can't we'll blame it on the Republicans.

It's a sad day when the republicans consider taxing WORKERS and transferring wealth is "hard work" on behalf of the recipients.
Even sadder when they raise taxes on moderate estates to feed the ultra wealthy - pitiful really, also immoral, from the self described "party of God" (rush limbo said that when courting his third wife).

Work hard become rich is wonderful. too bad republicans loathe that concept, preferring "clip a coupon, stay rich" or "pay a politician cash become rich"

Nice slogans; lots of BS. But the bottom line is that the greatest redistributionists known to America is the right wing of the republican party who seriously believe that wealth and prosperity are "birthrights" to the chosen few and that people who work hard should be happy they don't starve.

I worry about myself and my family. Don't care who gets what or who gets nothing. If the rich get richer, good for them. If the poor get poorer, not my problem. I've got all I can handle in my own little world.

I don't care either, except when the government steps in and taxes me to give it to someone with a lot more cash than I have, which was the point of the thread.

Politicians are going to screw us whether they are right wing, moderate or left wing. There is not much the little guy can do about it except for voting for whichever lying politicians appeal to us the most on election day. No matter who is in power they are going to help their own. Hell, I want to be rich. I have worked hard trying to become rich. Am I rich? Not by the standards that I consider to be rich. Do I blame the govenment because I am not rich? NO! Maybe if I had made some different decisions along the way and been a better manager of my money I would be rich. By the standards of most of the world everybody who will read this while sitting in their comfortable homes with plenty to eat and accessing this site with their broadband internet connections with a couple of late model cars and a boat in their driveways are rich. When I finish typing this I am going to fix myself a bowl of Bluebell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and squirt a lot of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup all over it. How many people in South America, Africa or even Western Europe can do that?

That is exactly why I don't care. Taxes are a fact of life and I look at it as just another deduction. I long ago realized that, as long as I was gainfully employed, the tax dollars taken from me would never find their way back to me. I also realized that, if I paid attention to what was being done with that money, it would only anger me, so, I quit worrying about it. All I want is what I earn. As for the incumbent administration? Keep the terrorists out of my back yard and we'll all get along fine.
