Please forward this letter to any of your friends or relatives so that all can be informed.

    Dear Tiger Fans,

In an effort to make LSU football the best program in the nation I believe
that it is the fans' responsibility to provide a home game atmosphere as
equally as intimidating as our squad. If you have ever been to a game at
another university, you would most likely see a "sea of people" all dressed
in team colors(Ex. Tennessee and Florida). Tiger Stadium has had its
moments in the past where this held true, but as of late colors within the
stands of Tiger Stadium have been a noisy mixture of white, purple, gold,
and the occational red. So, this year the first home game of the season
(Aug 30th vs ULM) has been unofficially designated to be a "gold out" game.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Tigers, tailgate, and also
show your team spirit by wearing a gold shirt or outfit. So remember to
mark your calendar and come to the game prepared. See you on August 30th.
    GEAUX TIGERS!

    Sincerely,
    Marshall Roy
    (Devoted Fan)

I used to want Tiger Stadium to look like so many other college football stadiums, with a sea of fans all wearing the same color (a la UT, UGA, Nebraska, etc.). But, I've come to realize that the mixture of colors in the stadium (purple, gold, white, camouflage, etc.) is one of the unique things about Tiger Stadium. We intimidate opposing teams with noise, not with a sea of one color. No pleading from the Bengal Belles will change this.

I would like to see Tiger Stadium as intimidating at the end of the 4th quarter as it is at early in the 1st. TAF should give points to those who stay to hear the band sing.... oh wait that doesn't generate any income so it doesn't show support.:geaux:

Tiger Stadium is never going to have that "sea" of one color in the stands, and that's okay. The reason is because LSU has 2 colors that people wear on game day, purple and gold. The thing about all those teams you see with everybody wearing one color is that they team has just that: one color (and usually white, which doesn't really count). With Tenessee, its orange. With Nebraska its Red. With A&M its Maroon, etc.

People wear their colors to the game at LSU, its just that there is more than one option, so there has never been a tradition started, and there probably never will be. Think about it, one year we have a "gold out" game, and then the next, we have a "purple out" game. Hell, we even had a "white out" game when Vandy wouldn't let us wear the white jerseys. Personally, I'd like everybody to wear purple to every game, and I always do, but its never going to happen. But, like I said, that's okay, Tiger Stadium still has the BEST CROWD IN THE NATION, bar none, no matter what they're wearing.

thanks for the comments, but please even if you dont think that this is a good idea, email that statement to your friends, because maybe they do. I just wanna give this my best effort, I have already sent it to over 100 people including Dandydon who said he would support it when the season gets closer. Ive also sent off to various sports anchors and reporters for the local news channels in an effort to spread the word. Even if one or two people only like the idea, if they sent off then maybe a few more will catch on. Thanks and Geaux Tigers.

I understand we dont need to be like every other team and that we have two different colors....but...The stadium should at least be filled with PURPLE AND GOLD. And having a "gold out" isnt a bad idea. Its jsut trying to bring all the fans together and make Tiger Stadium that more intimidating.

    Marsheezi,

Sorry, I wasn't trying to rain on your gold parade. I was just merely pointing out that on a regular basis we will never have a mono-colored stadium. Good luck with the plan, though.
