Davenport's character and recruiting for us his year have been overshadowed by RS, but in any other year Davenport would be the guy that all the fans are praising. He's done a great job recruiting for us, is a huge LSU fan, and has tremendous character. He's going to be a good one!
Amen to that, a lot of props need to be giving to Davenport and kids like him, he doesnt have to do what he's been doing in terms for "recruiting" for Lsu, he could of committed and then just sat back and lived his life as a normal senior in high school but he hasn't, he loves Lsu and wants to make sure he's playing next to the best kids in nation when he's at Lsu, here's to a true Tiger...Chris Davenport.
Listening to the William Campbell interview on Rivals, I'd say Davenport may have convinced the kid to come to LSU.
Thanks for this insight. Kudos to Davenport - glad he will be part of the LSU family. CLM definitely seems to look for and attract talent w/ quality of character.
Article titled "Davenport takes on recruiter role," with a picture that has the caption "Chris Davenport will be in the ear of other players" Dec 28 -- "I am trying to help us get the best recruiting class possible," said the five-star defensive tackle from Mansfield, La.. "Right now, we have the No. 1 ranked class in the country. "Hopefully we'll get a few more five-stars and a few more four-star players (to commit) and that will seal the deal. It would be great if we can seal the deal by getting Rueben Randle, Barkevious Mingo and William Campbell. I talk to Rueben at least three times a week, and I talked to William Campbell the other night. I am trying to tell them all the good things about LSU." Davenport has an opportunity to do some heavy recruiting for the Tigers this week in San Antonio. He is in the Alamo City getting ready to play for the West squad in the US Army All-American Bowl. "My roommate here is Chris Faulk," Davenport said. "He is also committed to LSU, so he can help me recruit." http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=894021
Here is a clip of a dance off between the West (white) team and the East (black) team. Davenport (#47), the big guy on the left (white team), and Campbell (#73) the big guy on the right (black team) appear to be the two most lively personalities, each urging along this dance-off between their two respective teams. It seems that Davenport and Campbell have similar personalities and very well might become good friends. http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/amp-dance-off-east-vs-west-43007
You're right Parso! Thanks for starting this thread to point it out to those of us who get ALL of our recruiting info in this forum! I hope he brings Campbell with him to Tiger Town! :geaux:
