I apologize if this has been posted already but I haven't seen it here. The following, from P&G, is Jimbo Fisher talking about Carter's indoor record:

" Xavier Carter, he may be the fastest human I've ever heard of. By the way the record they were talking about, the record he broke, he'd never run on an indoor-bank track. Ever. Ever. He'd never done it in his life. They took him up there to warm up on Friday just to try and do some starts, and when you start you go uphill on that, and he fell down the first three times trying to warm up to start. Never done it. Got him in his prelims, got that ironed out, come around the fourt! h turn running so fast, he'd never gone on a bank track, he almost ran out of his lane. He stumbled the last 40 yards and ran a time that qualified. When he ran the second time, the old record, the fastest time on an indoor for a high school kid was 21.02. He ran 20.69, he beat it by over three-tenths of a second when he broke it. "

Well let's hope he doesn't become too fast or he may leave football behind. I'll settle for just fast enough to win an individual 200 in the NCAAs but not the Olympics.

It won't happen. There is a lot more money in football. I haven't heard anything about him having any interest in the Athens Olympics and by the time the 2008 Olympics rolls around Carter will have completed his football career at LSU.

Actually I think he is just as much or more interested in his track career as he is football.

He still has to qualify for the olympics, which is no easy task.

the point is, i think its his priority. Odds are he will qualify being that fast anyhow. Who can blame someone....this is their ticket to display their true skill against the entire world. good luck to him...cant wait to watch.

I think its great. The kid is super ambitious and believes he can accomplish whatever he wants. He wants to win olympic gold and also be an NFL ProBowler. The kid is a gamer!!!

He's not looking at Athens, he is looking at the next Olympics. Of couse if he happened to break a world record outdoors this spring he could end up in the US Olympic Trials and if he won or finished second then he could go to Athens this summer.

Xavier Carter has no chance of qualifying for the upcoming Olympics. While he is very, very fast for a high school kid, the people that run in the Olympics are the best in the world. Xavier Carter is not capable of running with the people in the Olympics, yet. All the people do that run in the Olympics or that attempt to run in the Olympics train everyday day, day in and day out. Maybe after spending a few years with Pat Henry the X-Man will be able to compete with that kind of competition, but right out of high school? You have got to be kidding me right?
