Looks like the Saints have done it again. Take an unknown and turn him into a star.

Here's Bill Parcell's take on Khiry:

According to FOX analyst John Lynch, Saints coach Sean Payton revealed that fascinating tidbit during his production meetings with the FOX crew heading into last week’s playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Per Lynch, Payton said: “Parcells called this week and said, ‘Sean what are you doing? You’ve got Curtis Martin right in front of your eyes, and you’re not doing anything with him. Give him the ball.’”

This is why I was so against the Ingram pick. A running back can easily be found as an UDFA. The saints should never draft a running back again.

I said the same exact thing. ESPECIALLY being the Saints when guys like Thomas and Ivory were so successful. Why they traded picks to take Ingram, I mean I can't begin to understand that. If Ingram is on this team next year something is seriously wrong.

He will be because he has no trade value. You might as well keep him.

The NFL needs an amnesty exemption like the NBA does. Just because we have to pay him doesn't mean we have to play him.

With Ingram, I'm looking at a guy who averaged almost 6 yards a carry in the second half of the season. Forget the first two crappy seasons (you know, Drew Brees was a very average QB in his first 3 years); I think the light is coming on for MI. With Pierre possibly beginning to run out of shelf life, KRob and Ingram could give the Saints a nice 2-back tandem.

It's a shame so many seem to have their judgement clouded by the fact that Ingram played for Bama. As the season wore on he improved tremendously. I wholeheartedly agree that he wasn't pulling his weight for some time. A long time. But the Mark Ingram I saw at the end of this season was damn good. And I sincerely believe that if he got more carries per game he'd be even better. He always tends to have more YPC and more big plays when he gets the ball more. He'll never be a guy who can excel with 6 or 8 touches a game.

Maybe it's because 6 games means dick when we are talking about a first round draft pick. If he would have been a free agent pickup then great. But all I see is a guy who consistently gets outplayed by every free agent that runs the football around him.

There is obvious merit to what you say and the biggest reason most fans want to get rid of him. At this point, he definitely wasn't worth the draft picks we gave up to get him. It has nothing to do with where he went to college. But, you roll the dice and sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Part of it is the scheme he's in, but most of it is on him for not adapting. If he can keep or exceed the level of production he finally started showing in the last few games and sustain that over the course of an entire season, maybe he'll start winning some people over.

I guess at this point you are kind of stuck with him because he has zero trade value. The question is when do you cut bait? I hope they don't waste another season on him. I'd give him a chance next year but he'd be on a short leash.
