Browsing through the turtle thread I saw you talkin about floundering a little bit. I flounder a good bit and mostly just walk as well(do gig from a boat a little in fort bayou, parkers creek, and over in goula but 99% of my gigging is walking.) Anyways didnt want to hijack the turtle thread so started another.....here are a few MS trips from the past couple years....

Damn bro that's an awesome haul right there. If I lived closer to the gulf i'd be all over this type of fishing. Flounder here is expensive, and definately not as fresh as those.

We get good flounder out here but good googie moogie man, that's a months worth trying in a boat. We get over-fished by Messicans, so there's that.

Years ago I bought some flounder at the Schweigmann's supermarket in Baton Rouge. They turned out to have been caught in California and they had a terrible fishy taste. I had to throw most of it away

Not sure about grocery stores, but some shady restaurants will show and price fish on the menu but actually replace it with a cheaper fish. For example, I was at a place once and ordered blackened red snapper, but there's no way the fish I was eating was snapper. It was more like tilapia or something like that. I guess they thought they could cover up the taste with the blackened seasoning, but when I called them out on it and they apologized and explained that there was a mix up in the kitchen.

They offered to re-make my meal, but I declined because a) it would have taken too long and b) I was worried about the chef adding in some other kind of 'special ingredient' since I was the one sending his food back (I'm weird about that and don't want to give restaurant workers any reason at all to fuck with my food), but I wonder how many times they'd actually done that and gotten away with it. I imagine quite a bit since they ended up comping the entire meal.

I worked at a restaurant that replaced almost all of the liquor with cheaper versions. They would just refill the top shelf bottles with bar brands. Very few people ever called them on it.
