He would not have been a good fit here. Our players reserve their off-the-field antics until August.

According to the College Station Police Department’s significant activity summary, three Texas A&M football players were arrested over the weekend for outstanding warrants.
Wide receiver Edward Pope, safety Howard Matthews and defensive end Gavin Stansbury all had warrants out for their arrest due to various charges. The Aggie football players were arrested by the same officer in the same location.

An A&M spokesman released the following statement: “We are continuing to gather information. Gavin Stansbury was initially suspended from all athletic activities, but has since been reinistated.

“Howard Matthews and Ed Pope were not suspended and are still members of the football team.”

In addition, the school announced that three players arrested earlier in the off-season have been reinstated but still have “disciplinary obligations to fulfill.” They are quarterback Kenny Hill (public intoxication), linebacker Darian Claiborne (noise violation) and defensive lineman Isaiah Golden (possession of less than two ounces of marijuana).

Pope’s warrant arrest was for a failure to appear in court. Matthews had a warrant out for speeding, failure to exhibit a driver’s license and failure to appear in court. Stansbury was charged with assault and was arrested with a warrant out for his name.

According to the arrest report the three athletes were arrested at a local Freebird’s World Burrito restaurant. Pope was arrested at 11:40 p.m. while Matthews and Stansbury were arrested at 12:05 a.m. and 12:06 a.m. respectively.

The trio of Aggies arrested add to the growing list of A&M football players who have been arrested since the team finished their 2013 season in January. Wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones, quarterback Kenny Hill, Isaiah Golden and linebacker Darian Claiborne have all been arrested for separate charges in recent months.

With the recent arrests, Texas A&M has had seven players arrested since their bowl game against the Duke Blue Devils to ring in the new year.

I miss the good old days when officers would take the kids to the coach and then they would have to run the stadium steps till they puked!

to be honest this taught them more than arresting them. When you arrest them its an us vs them and you're just discriminating. When you take them to their coach they're gonna remember it, work their ass off and more than likely clean up.

I had to run until I puked in high school once for ditching classes. Once is all it took, coach was merciless.

The only thing positive that can be said about A&M is I hate them one less than I hate The Ohio State University!
