Paris police: fire likely caused by an electrical short circuit.

When it’s done it won’t be “Catholic” anymore. Not with the government involved.

I think it's quite clear that is the plan. Just like it was the stated intent to believe and find this to be an accident.

it's been one for well over a hundred years

    Notre-Dame de Paris - Wikipedia

Under the 1905 law on the separation of Church and State, Notre-Dame de Paris is one of 70 churches in Paris built before that year which are owned by the French state. While the building itself is owned by the state, the Catholic Church is the designated beneficiary, having the exclusive right to use it for religious purposes in perpetuity.

protect the building, other than that, I don't care,.. controlled by the French government, or the Vatican State,.. not a big diff in my eyes, both are bureaucracies, hard to say which is the more corrupt?

"Notre Dame's reconstruction is prompting widespread debate across France, with differing views emerging over whether it should involve new technologies and designs. Macron's office has, for example, said the president wants a "contemporary architectural gesture to be considered" for the collapsed spire, which wasn't part of the original cathedral.

Macron hasn't offered any specifics on his vision for the roof or whether the frame should be wood, metal or concrete, according to his cultural heritage envoy, Stephane Bern. He has named a general, Jean-Louis Georgelin, former chief of staff of the armed forces, to lead the reconstruction effort."

Sorry, but 800-year old cathedral and "contemporary gesture" don't belong in a sentence together. What a fucking joke. And Georgelin? Has absolutely no construction or reconstruction background or training whatsoever. Why would they put a military guy in charge of reconstruction? His goal in life has been destruction.
