He was just on ESPN and picked his pre-season top 5

    1. Notre Dame
    2. USC
    3. Texas
    4.Ohio State
    5. Auburn

What a joke.. The only pick I like is Ohio State maybe.

He's becoming anti-LSU, no??? I mean, how can someone consistantly over-look LSU like he does?? --Even when everyone else give us SOME credit, Herbie doesn't seem to give us any... :dis:

I don't blame him for not putting LSU in his top 5. With all that we lose and the tough road games we have, ending in the top 10 would be quite impressive.

The rest of his picks aren't bad, although they are heavy on the hype.

Notre Dame is practically guaranteed to be the top rated team of the teams with as many losses as them. That means a 2 loss ND team would be close to the top 5.

Texas will still be one of the most talented teams in the country, I wouldn't be suprised to see them have a very good year.

USC has recruited better than any other team in the country, and the rest of the country doesn't have the Booty bias that LSU fans seem to. Remember, Leinhart was a nobody while behind Palmer. And they've got a running back that was pushing Lendale for the starting spot before an injury.

Ohio St... some good playmakers on offense (despite being limited by playcalling IMO), but loses entire defense. Recruited well, have some proven backups - could be a top 5 team. They were the early pick for number 1 if Young left by many analysts.

Auburn returns most of their team, currently has arguably the best duo of coordinators in the conference, and gets their tough games at home next year. Their QB will have a year of experience under his belt and their RBs are expected to be some of the best in the conference. A top 5 finish is definitely within reach for them.

I e-mailed that Rich C. guy from CFN.com and told him about the typo of putting "craig davis" instead of Glen Davis.

He apoligized, and actually CHANGED IT.

    very impressed.

one thing to remember about USC now and their new backfield:

They don't have norm chow anymore to groom and nurture quarterbacks.

People said that about last season as well. Booty & the RB were both groomed under Chow for a couple years.

USC has an easy schedule, the media supporting them, and a cast of talented young players ready to step up to the plate. While they may not play for a NC next year, I see no reason to believe that USC will not be atleast close to a top 5 team.

while i agree they will be at the top once again, I agree with the premise that chow was a vital cog in their succcess yet their recruiting has been so good even a monkey like defensive great pete carroll can overcome.

however, like losing little nicky here, it will take 3-5 years before you can truly assess the loss of a saban or a black-tongued chow.
