I thought Shepard is our starter next year?

For weeks most people here were anointing RS as the starter and savior next year. What a difference a month can make.

Now there's a thread "All Hail Jordan Jefferson". The thread is deserved btw, JJ has grown into a "good" QB in a short period of time. I won't say great just yet, but based on last night's performance he's walking in the right direction.

And all props to clair, he said from the beginning that JJ was ahead of the game so to speak. I didn't know JJ was gonna be this good so quick, but i did wish he would have gotten a chance earlier in the season. He couldn't do any worse than Lee, that's for sure.

Now back to RS. I've said since day one that Miles/Crowton should use Shepard like Percy Harvin. Put him all over the field, don't restrict him to just QB.

The possibilities are endless with this kid. Im sure Crowton is foaming at the mouth right now. He will prolly script 5-10 plays for RS at QB. We might even see RS under center and JJ split wide. This offense will be scary to say the least.

I think a lot of it had to do with waiting to see what JJ could do, and he got that shot vs Arkansas finally and passed with flying colors. It took an injury to Lee for us to have that chance. If that hadn't happened, we would be clueless as to who would lead this team next year and would have had a profound effect on Randle's recruitment.

I for one was saying Shepard, coming in the Spring, would contend for a shot to overtake Lee. That was before the emergence of JJ. Now that we see that JJ can definitely lead this team to the promised land, I would tend to agree that Shepard can be used in that Harvin type mode.

Shepard will push JJ to get better. And that can only mean good things. And don't sleep on Garrett.

Things are right back on track for LSU to dominate in the coming years.

Oh did I mention a kid named Michael Ford?

Sorry if I didn't. He may be the best RB coming into LSU in a very long time.

Imagine an offense with JJ, Shepard, Scott, Dickson, Toliver, Debose, I could go on and on.

I don't recall many coming out and saying Shep would be the starter out of the gate but I do feel he will see significant playing time in capacity or the other. As a RP change of pace QB, slot WR/RB to get him the ball in open space.

I agree. There were a few folks getting a bit overzealous, but I don't think anyone actually believed Shep would be ready to start the season next year.

It had alot to do with the frame of mind that "If Jefferson cant beat out Lee, when Lee is playing like this what chance does he have of ever playing"

If Lee doesn't get hurt and JJ never sees the field (which is sadly what would have likely happened), then I said that Shepard coming in the Spring, knowing how much he would dive head first into the playbook, would have every bit of a chance at starting as a true freshman as a broken down Lee or an unknown Jefferson.

Now everything has changed obviously. And I think we have found our QB.
