It seems that everytime a high profile job, either college or pro, comes open, Nick Sabans name is one of the first ones mentioned.
Thats what happens when you are a great coach. I think its up to us as LSU fans to ensure that this guy stays here for as long as possible. The last thing that LSU needs is a coaching change. We are aon the brink of something great here. Lets not forget what he came into............I say all this because LSU fans (including myself) have had a tendancy to be fair-weathered at times....just look at the Ole Miss loss this year and UAB last year. Yes, we should have won those games. Yes we were out coached. The bottom line is. in the past an LSU team would have folded after a loss like those. I attribute it all to SABAN keeping the team together. We are all on a high we havent experienced in quite as while..I just encourage all LSU fans not to get down on the team if we lose the SECCG, or the coaches. He is the man for the job...Lets all be thankful we have this guy, and make him know we want him here for as long as he wants to be here

I agree that we need to keep Saban at LSU. Question: How do we do it? We are already paying him an absurd figure to coach the team. He probably could get more with the pros, but when you earn $1M or more a year, $1.5M doesn't seem to be a whole lot more. What we need to do and do well is to make Nick and Mrs. Nick so happy (and it ain't about money) that they cannot truly see themselves leaving LSU. We need to support Nick by making sure that we give him the tools and facilities he needs to attract the highest caliber of players (he's doing that well now), and we need to support him with positive attitudes and not second-guess every little thing he does wrong. Above all, we need to see that he respects LSU, its players, and fans as well as we need to respect him as a person and a coach, even when he loses. Remember, respect is something earned, not a free gift.
    GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two very good posts. Although Saban may have been out-coached vs. Ole Miss, that happens from time to time. Still, I think that game had more to do with bad bounces and breaks. One thing that I like about Saban is that he seems to be concerned for the well being of his players and it seems tougher for coaches to relate to their players these days. I think he can handle a little negativity but certainly does not welcome it. It's the players that it affects most. They are Gods one day and goats the next. Also, what will it take to keep Jimbo around for another year? Our incoming QB could sure use a year of his tutelage. I will sure wish him well at his first head coaching position.

Is Jimbo really ready to go? I think he will be here at least two more years before he departs to run his own team. Is there any offers on the table for him now?

I think he interviewed for the SMU job. Saban encourages his assistants to advance their careers via head coaching opportunities.

it wouldn't shock me if Notre Dame.....

went after Nick Saban for Football Coach. i think the next Notre Dame Coach will be John Gruden or the Jacksonville Jaquars football coach Tom Coughlin.

I didn't realize Jimbo interviewed anywhere. I am all for advancing careers, but not at the expense of my Tigers. Hopefully Jimbo will be back for a few more years.
